Lesson
To The Parents:
Horses—like children—need guidance. Horses need to clearly know and
understand what you want and it’s the same case with children.
As children of God, we need to strive to know and understand what
God wants. A great place to start is with God’s Word. It is the book that
teaches not only about children, but horses as well. In Matthew, God clearly
states His love for children. In addition, if you look through out the bible, you
will find over 300 references to horses; it’s all in His word.
The WESN Lesson is a fun game to teach children about God. Like
God using horses, this lesson uses horses to teach about God. Read your
child Zechariah 6:2-6. WESN Lesson has been around a long time!
Take time to teach your children the WESN Lesson. My prayer is
that every child will have many hours of riding the trail either on this stick
horse or a real one. Most importantly, I pray that they will Worship,
Evangelize, Serve God, and say No to those things that keep them from
Christ.
If you had a choice of all the horses in the world which one would you like to
pick and take home? To pick one out you would have to set it apart from the
others. That would mean that horse is special and you would treat it as your
special horse. Think for a minute! If you could take a horse home today,
would you plan to teach it? How would you go about teaching your horse?
You would want your horse to be a good horse and obey you and come to
you.
To do this you need a LESSON.
GOD looks over all his creation and he wants to bring each one of you home
(John 3:16). God picks out each one of you because you are special. How
Special? God says that before you were formed He knew you and set you
apart. GOD is planning for you. Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the
womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…. His first and most
important lesson is his Son Jesus. You need to know Jesus did something
special for each of you. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave
his only son, that who so ever believes in him will not perish but have
everlasting life. God’s advanced lesson is to teach you how to do good work.
God created you and you are His workmanship. Ephesians 2:10 for we are
God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God
prepared in advance for us to do.
Now for the WESN Lesson that you can teach your horse and the lesson
God can teach you today.
WESN means West East South North. These are directions. Who knows
which direction West East South North is? The reason to pick a direction is
so you will not confuse the horse. If you know which direction you are going
then the horse will not have a hard time following.
What does WESN mean for you? It is four simple directions which God will
use in your life to keep you on track with him. It will help you to follow Jesus.
Worship – You worship God through: Music (Judges 5:3 …I will sing to the
Lord, I will sing; I will make music to the Lord, the God of Israel); Prayer
(Jeremiah 29:12 -Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I
will listen to you); Praise (Let everything that has breath praise the Lord); and
Dance (Psalm 149:3 - Let them praise his name with dancing and make
music to him with tambourine and harp).
Evangelize - This means to tell others about Christ. Jesus said in Matthew
28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Serve - How do we serve God? Through our gifts he has given us. 1 Peter
4:10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others
faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. Where do we serve
God? Everywhere, anytime. Your going to ask your horse to serve you
anytime you get around the horse or ride the horse. You want the horse to
serve you faithfully.
No to those things which keep you from God - What are some things which
keep you from God. Lying, Cheating, and Stealing. Does God like these
things? Other things that can keep you from God is Not going to church. God
wants you to learn the Bible, pray with Christians, and worship him. How do
you think you are going to feel if your horse says No to you if you have taught
your horse to do something and they do not do it. God gets upset at us when
we do things which affect our relationship with him in a bad way.
