RESUME
After return from Canada in 1990 I was appointed as an
assistant professor in king Abdulaziz university , I spent 2 years
in king Fahd hospital cardiac unit, one of the busiest units in
Saudi Arabia, performing as a consultant, more than 500 open
heart surgeries per year ,mainly valvular , replacement and
repair, some conginetal and coronary procedures . As an
assistant professor , I teach both the under- and postgraduates
in vascular and cardiothoracic surgery. In 1992 , I moved to
Alhada armed forces hospital to establish cardiac surgery
program . I performed more than one thousand open heart ,
mainly coronaries, in addition to vascular and thoracic surgery
and educational commitments. During that period , I was
involved
in several cardiac surgical programs including
cardiomyoplasty, trans myocardial revascularistation and
heart&lung transplantation and in 2000 , beating heart surgery.
I was actively participating in different organization and
scientific committees for symposia, local and international
conferences.. I was promoted to an associate professor in 1995.
As I was busy in operating and student teaching, most of my
research activities were retrospective , descriptive and technical
modifications. More than 60 articles were published in different
cardiovascular and thoracic journals and addressing variant
cardiovascular issues. In 2005 , I returned to the university
hospital in Jeddah to help establishing cardiac surgery .The
program aim was service, educational and to help in surgical
training and academic research activities. All pre , intra and
post operative protocols , policy , procedure, risk stratification ,
morbidity &mortality scores, clinical pathways and guidelines
were database built and implemented by all participating and
members of cardiac surgery staff. Nursing and perfusion
programs were started and aiming for a well credited
international resident training program in collaboration with
other cardiac surgery centers in Jeddah. More than 200 open
heart surgeries of all varieties were performed with excellent
results . All data published with other several scientific papers.
