The Gardasil Vaccine UK. Who Decides?
On the 13 February 2007, journalist Jerome Burne wrote in the UK Daily
Mail in the full text of his article on Gardasil entitled Is this vaccine safe - published *before* the information supplied by the FDA on the three deaths associated with this vaccine - "As yet no decision has been taken as to whether the vaccine should be made available on a national scale. The Department of Health says that it is “currently seeking expert advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation
(JCVI)” and they will only make a decision when “all relevant information has been considered.”
It should be noted that cervical cancer incidence fell by 42 per cent between 1988 and 1997 (England and Wales). This fall is directly related to the cervical screening programme. Mortality rates for cervical cancer in 2004 (2.8 per 100,000 females) were over 60 per cent lower than they were 30 years earlier. Despite these figures, the British government is proposing to get into financial bed with pharmaceutical giant Merck over the Gardasil vaccine. So far 25,000 patients have taken part in clinical trials to test it but only 1,184 of them were preteen girls. Three girls have now died.
But does it offer any additional protection on top of a regular smear test?
“The vaccine offers no extra protection to women who are already taking a responsible attitude to their sex lives,” says vaccine expert Dr Meryl
Nass of Mount Desert Island Hospital in Maine, USA. “Most women who develop invasive cervical cancer, the sort that can kill you, haven’t had regular screening."
At a time when hard-headed decisions are having to be made about what drugs can be made available on the NHS should we be spending hundreds of millions to save a few hundred cases of cervical cancer? “The research doesn’t show that the vaccine actually reduces the number of cases of cancer,” says a spokesperson for the American Association of
Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). “It only shows that the women who had it had fewer abnormal smear results. But many of those results never lead to cancer. The longest follow up so far is just five years and it usually takes decades for cervical cancer to develop.”
The Wall Street Journal confirms that pharmaceutical giant Merck is
"desperate" for funding streams and "vaccination across the U.S. would make Gardasil an automatic blockbuster." The worldwide Merck/Gardasil
HPV vaccine promotion has been dubbed the Help Pay for Vioxx litigation campaign. The world's third largest drug manufacturer Merck, pulled Vioxx from the market on 30 September 2004. The antiinflammatory painkiller was withdrawn because it was found to double the risk of heart disease. The Vioxx drug withdrawal is possibly one of the largest in history.
Pharmaceutical products and multiple vaccines advocate Dr Ian Gibson
MP (Labour member for Norwich North) is a leading proponent of Gardasil and other multiple vaccines that he wants to be given to little girls, even though the long term effects are unknown and with deaths already recorded. See Deaths Resulting From Gardasil Vaccine . Dr Ian
Gibson MP is also the politician desperately attempting to debunk the extensive links between Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) and vaccines in his flawed and damaged politicians opinion piece 'inquiry' into 'CFS/ME'.
The UK government body in charge of deciding whether the Gardasil vaccine is to be foisted on young girls in Britain is the Joint Committee on
Vaccination and Immunisation.
One Click publishes the list of its members below. One of its members closely linked to the sinister government lobbying groups such as Sense
About Science, the Science Media Centre and the infamous psychiatrist
Professor Simon Wessely, is the ubiquitous rent-a-mouth Vivienne Parry.
Parry is notorious to many of our readers due to her offensive and unethical behaviour over the risible PRIME Project on 'CFS/ME' funded by
Great Universal Stores (GUS).
If the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation elects to foist the Gardasil vaccine on little girls in Britain despite the deaths and the worldwide outcry that has commenced, we predict that the backlash will be awesome to behold.
