First Term
1.
Choose courses you would like to apply for
2.
Ask a teacher to write a reference for you
3.
Fill in Record Sheet (page 7) and give it to Mr Drew.
4.
Give out Reference Information Request sheets to all your subject teachers (pages 8 and 9 of this booklet - also available from school website and from Mr. Drew)
5.
Register for Apply on UCAS website
6.
Write personal statement and put this on Apply
7.
Register for and take any extra tests that need to be taken
(e.g. BMAT)
8.
Log on to Track once UCAS application sent off (UCAS will send you a number that allows access) and check the status of your applications
Second and Third Terms
1.
Use Track to check the status of your offers and report all news back to Mr Drew
2.
Decide your firm and insurance choices and enter these by the deadline that UCAS give you.
3.
Give firm and insurance choice information (with conditions e.g. 75% overall Bac mark ) to Mr Drew, with 2 stamped envelopes that have addresses of universities on.

Extra Tests
Several universities require that applicants take specific tests as part of the application procedure.
BMAT
If you are plying to study the courses below you must take the BMAT test.
This test will take place in school on Wednesday 5 th
November. You must inform Mr
Drew as soon as you know that you will be taking this test as you have to be registered before the end of September. You will also have to pay a fee (between €70 and €100)
Courses that require the BMAT:
The Royal Veterinary College: D100, D101
Imperial College London: A100, B900, BB29, BB2X
University College London: A100
University of Cambridge: A100, A101, D100
University of Oxford: A100, B100

UKCAT
If you are applying to study Dentistry or Medicine at a university that does not require
BMAT then you will have to take the UKCAT test. The school has nothing to do with the administration of this test. You must register and arrange to take the test yourself. Details of how to do this can be found at www.ukcat.ac.uk
LNAT
If you are applying to study Law, several universities require that you take the LNAT test. The school has nothing to do with the administration of this test. You must register and arrange to take the test yourself. Details of which universities require

STEP
Some applicants for Mathematics courses (particularly those applying to Cambridge or Warwick) will be required to take STEP papers after they have received offers.
You must check any offers you receive very carefully. The tests usually take place in

Oxford University
If you are applying to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) or Economics and Management (E & M) you are required to take the TSA Oxford test on
Wednesday 5 th
November. This test will be taken at school. You must inform Mr
Drew as soon as you know that you will be taking this test as you must be registered.
You may also have to pay a fee.

ELAT
If you are applying to take English Language & Literature (Q300), English & Modern
Languages (TQ93) or Classics & English (QQ38 and QQH8) at Oxford you need to take ELAT. This test will take place in the morning of 5 th
November at school. You must inform Mr Drew as soon as you know that you will be taking this test as you have to be registered quickly. There may also be a fee for this test. For more details see: www.admissionstests.cambridgeassessment.org.uk/adt/elat
Other Courses at Oxford
If you are applying to study History, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or any joint honours degree involving any of these subjects then you will be required to take tests in school on 5 th
November. You do not need to register for these tests as they will be sent directly to school once Oxford receives your application.
Cambridge University
With the exception of BMAT and LNAT, Cambridge does not require applicants to take any extra tests as part of the initial application, though you will be expected to take various tests if you are invited to interview.
