The Knight Informer Waconia Knights of Columbus Council # 2506 Website: www.waconiaknightsofcolumbus.com Volume No. 15 – Issue 12 Grand Knights Message Upcoming Calendar Dates! “Keep Christ in Christmas”. How important are those 4 words? During the hustle and bustle of the activity surrounding the Christmas Holidays it seems like the birth of Christ has been forgotten. However, as we attend one of the several Masses scheduled for Christmas eve and Christmas Day we know differently. The churches are full and how great it is to see so many young parents with small children in attendance. How often do some of the families see the inside of a church during the year? I don’t know and it’s not up to me to know. What I do know is that God has a special way of loving and understanding each and every person no matter their choices. The two holidays that come during the last two months of the year, namely Thanksgiving and Christmas, I believe are truly meant for time together with friends and family. It is a time to give thanks for the past year and ask God for his blessings as we go forward. Growing up on a dairy farm meant there were chores and work to do daily, seven days a week. Because of that, at least in my family Thanksgiving was not celebrated as a big holiday. However, my parents made up for it during the Christmas season. I always remember my Dad going in to town and buying a big tree and then spending time in the garage cutting off the lower branches and using them to fill in open spots in the upper part of the tree by drilling holes in the trunk and sticking the branches in those holes. He believed in having a large full tree. My Mother spent a lot of time cooking and baking as there were a lot of people to feed. Even though several of my older brothers and sisters had moved away, they were all expected home for Christmas Day and a big dinner. But, the big Dec. 15th Regular Meeting Parish Center 7pm Jan. 24th Pro Life Breakfast at St. Joseph Parish Center BOARD MEMBERS Grand Knight – Gene Miller Deputy Grand Knight- Austin Hagen Chancellor – Ken Gerding Recording Secretary –Joe Eiden Financial Secretary – Ted Schugg Treasurer – Jim Ebert Lecturer – Dan Niesen Advocate – Tom Johnston Warden – Chuck Monson Inside Guard – Bernie Rauen Outside Guard – Roger Leuthner 3 YearTrustee – Dan Steinhagen 2 Year Trustee – Larry Revering 1 Year Trustee – Andy Kleindl thing that was number one and everyone knew it, was Midnight Mass. No matter about anything else, going to Mass at midnight was a given. As we look forward to Christmas 2015, let us all remember to “keep Christ in Christmas”. As Knights of Columbus we should be the leaders in supporting and preparing our local parishes and church for the birth of Christ. As Knights, with our families, we need to join in the celebration by taking an active part in the Mass during this special time. This is also the time of year when we should all remember individuals and families who may not have the means to have the type of holidays we are enjoying. Please open your hearts to anyone you may know personally that could use some help or provide for them through the many programs available. God will be grateful for any acts of kindness given to people with needs not only during this holiday time, but throughout the year. Our December regular meeting has become a special time for our Brother Knights, spouses, widows of deceased members and guests. We gather together to share in the process of welcoming Christ into the world. What a wonderful time of the year. Our meeting will be very short, then we will join together for a sit down dinner with an entertaining program. KC Clothing For Sale!
