The former Director of Central Avian Research Institute (CARI), Izatnagar (U.P.) Dr.
Prafulla Kumar Pani has desired to offer a short term fellowship to a suitable
candidate from the interest raised from his generous donation to the 'Special Centre
for Molecular Medicine' at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. 'Dr. Prafulla K.
Pani Research Fellowship' is a short term fellowship of Rs. 10,000 per month
(consolidated) and is available for completing a research-based project to be carried
out at the Special Centre for Molecular Medicine (SCMM).
Essential qualifications & Experience:
1.
MBBS/BVSc or M.Sc. (First Class) with a minimum of one year working
experience in a cell biology laboratory.
2.
Experience of propagation and maintenance of mammalian cell lines.
3.
Experience of molecular biology techniques.
4.
Should have good communication and inter-personal skills.
5.
Working knowledge of computer is essential.
Desired Experience:
1.
Experience of cell biology techniques including immunofluorescence and dual
color fluorescence microscopy.
2.
Experience of cell-based assays including measurement of permeability.
3.
Experience of basic techniques to detect protein-protein interactions.

ICMR has sanctioned a CAR Project Grant entitled "Emerging Areas in Molecular
Medicine" to Special Centre for Molecular Medicine at Jawaharlal Nehru University
for the duration of 5 years duration.
Applications are invited for the following purely temporary positions under this
project. The initial appointment will be for one year and will be annually extended
based on satisfactory performance of the fellow.
1.
Technical Officer (One) (Consolidated Salary Rs. 37,500/- p.m.)
Essential Qualifications:
•
Masters Degree with minimum 55% marks in biological sciences / chemistry
or related subjects from any recognized university.
•
The candidates should have 2-3 years experience in handling of scientific
laboratory instruments and should have knowledge of basic instruments commonly
used in biological research.
•
The candidate should have good communication and inter personal skills.
Desirable Skills:
•
Candidates having Ph. D. Degree in biological sciences / chemistry or related
subjects from any recognized university will be preferred.
•
Candidates must have knowledge of overall laboratory management, i.e.
maintenance of the laboratory equipments, procurement of new equipments, to assist
M. Sc./Ph.D. students and trainees for their experiments with sophisticated
equipments.

reports etc. Familiarity with plant systems biology and genomics /metabolite
resources related to plant metabolomics is desirable. Published/ Communicated paper
or poster in National/Internationals conference is desirable.

Essential Qualifications: MSc/MCA/BTech in Mathematics or Computer Science with
at least 1 year of research experience in Computational Biology related to systems
biology data analysis or mathematical modeling in biology etc. High quality skill in
algorithm development, program writing in Python, Java etc. is essential.
Desired Skills: Will be expected to manage ongoing research activities in
Metabolomics, interact with LIMS group, manage the project portal, prepare and file
reports etc. Familiarity with Chemoinformatics, script writing & database organizing
and extracting using searching etc. will be considered favorably while selection for
Interview.
Candidates who have qualified NET/BET/BINC will have higher pay scale as per
DBT/DST guidelines. For SRF & JRF, those are registered or appearing for PhD
registration need not apply. Candidates working in the area of MD simulation or
molecular/chemical modeling need not apply.
