David T. Horn, Jr. Scholarship The David T. Horn, Jr. Scholarship was founded by Mr. Horn’s former students. Over five decades Mr. Horn has touched the lives of Bishop McDevitt students, teaching English, History and Humanities; and coaching in his Churchillian Forensics Society and World Affairs Club. The Scholarship is designed to show appreciation for Mr. Horn’s unparalleled dedication, inspiration, and tutelage, and inspire students to continue the legacy of success he has created while at Bishop McDevitt. Our mission is to provide a partial tuition scholarship of $5,000 to be used over a four year course. This will be awarded to an incoming freshman who best exemplifies those qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and proficiency in public speaking that Mr. Horn has valued and nurtured in us. Application Procedure Eligible candidates may apply for the Scholarship by completing the application form. Candidates must also provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher, athletic coach or club moderator. The application form, essay, and letter of recommendation must be returned to the Admissions Office by Friday, March 6, 2015. Selection Procedure All applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee after the deadline of March 6, 2015. Select students will be contacted to meet with the committee for an interview. After the interview process, one recipient will be selected. The winner will be notified and will receive the award from the Committee.
