JOB DESCRIPTION
Post: Project Leader
Grade: APT & C Scale point 36-38 * £30,311 P.A. Pro rata at 0.8 FTE
Term of Contract: Permanent
Hours: 30 hours per week (Flexi-time system in operation)
Office Base (place of work): Old Park Farm, Ford End, Essex or Home worker. This post will involve a lot of
travel.

Job Summary: To secure and deliver training, consultancy and research based projects with a wide variety of
organisations working in health, social care, green space and leisure – enabling more people living with dementia
to have a connection with nature and a sense of adventure in their lives. The ideal applicant has proven training &
facilitation and/or consultancy background and experience in delivery and development of training materials and
session plans. Must have reliable car and clean (or near-clean) driving licence.
Benefits Package: The postholder will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday pro rata, rising by one extra day per 12
months of employment up to a maximum of 30 days. As well as benefitting from flexible working and
comprehensive training and review the employee will also be able to benefit from the Dementia Adventure
contributory work based pension scheme (details of which will be shared separately). As a Home Worker, the
post-holder will receive an allowance for phone and internet connection, a fully equipped laptop and a printer, as
well as admin support from head office.
Main purpose of job:
To secure and deliver training, consultancy and research based projects with a wide variety of organisations
working in health, social care, green space and leisure – enabling more people living with dementia to have a
connection with nature and a sense of adventure in their lives. We are looking for someone who is self-driven,
results-orientated, with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality and social impact. A natural forward
planner who critically assesses own performance, is comfortable working remotely and as part of a team with a
focus on relationship management and product and service development with a variety of customers. Someone
who has experience of training design and delivery and/or consultancy provision, as well as some experience in
the care sector, will be ideal.

* "APT & C" stands for Administrative, Professional, Technical and Clerical. This description is used by the National Joint
Council for Local Government Services, which determines the pay and conditions of service for local government workers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operational Requirements










Generate, secure and manage new business leads, contacts and contracts, in close liaison with the
Dementia Adventure Business Development Manager and Head of Marketing.
Develop, respond to and follow up sales enquiries from individuals and organisations by phone, email
and with face to face visits.
Identify customer needs
Plan, organise and deliver training & consultancy and research based projects on behalf of dementia
adventure
Work with the Dementia Adventure Team and Line Manager to develop an external training service
Assist in the formulation and delivery of annual training and development plans
Assist in the development of an effective and efficient training service within the aims, policies and
principles of Dementia Adventure.
Be ambassadors and champions for our work, communicating with a range of stakeholders on an
ongoing basis
Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant social impact information
Attend team meetings at the Essex office, London and elsewhere as needed
2. Administrative Work








Helping to maintain central database and making sure it is up to date for marketing purposes
Contributing content to monthly email newsletters and other marketing materials
Filing – online and physical documentation
Gathering and producing information for reporting to funders/sponsors and maintaining these
relationships
Gathering information for future funding for Dementia Adventure and supporting funding applications
To carry out the above duties commensurate with the responsibilities of the post in a manner which
actively supports and promotes Dementia Adventure CIC’s aims and policies.
To carry out any other duties commensurate with the post and agreed with the Board of Directors.
To act in the best interest of Dementia Adventure at all times.
3. Financial Responsibilities



Returning up to date expenses on a regular basis accompanied by receipts.
Informing head office of the need to invoice customers for work done, in a timely manner.
Getting clearance for any spending over and above a monthly average expenses claim.

Working with people living with dementia

To be aware of and sensitive to the needs and issues faced by people living with dementia and their carers.

To have had some experience of supporting people with dementia and carrying out activities to support engagement
and well-being.
Cross sector working

To have had some experience of working with a range of stakeholders from different sectors involved in the support
of people living with a special need of some kind.

To have had some experience of working in the care sector.
Team Working

A key member of a small team working remotely and expanding the reach of Dementia Adventure nationally.

To be able to maintain and develop a team working approach within Dementia Adventure CIC, working closely with
other project leaders, business development manager and the head of marketing in particular.
Information & Communication Technology Skills

To have a high standard of experience in using a word-processor, database, and spreadsheet programmes as well
as Google services and Dropbox.
