2016 Ruth Shack Leadership Award
Leave A Legacy and The Miami Foundation share a passion for exceptional leadership. Each year, the
Ruth Shack Leadership Award honors an emerging leader who embodies the qualities for which Ruth
Shack is known: leadership, ethics, dedication and service to Greater Miami.
Ms. Shack served for three terms on the Miami-Dade County Commission and for 24 years as
president of The Miami Foundation. During that time, she championed a number of community service
efforts like Leave A Legacy. She is one of Miami’s most courageous leaders, having demonstrated her
passion for our community throughout the years.
We invite you to nominate someone today who you feel is deserving of this recognition.
Criteria
Nominees must be age 40 or younger who live and work in Miami-Dade County and may work or serve
in any field or sector. The person should be someone whose leadership has demonstrated a clear
commitment to advancing civic engagement and community service by:
 Creating a broad impact on improving quality of life in Greater Miami
 Building bridges among diverse groups, inspiring and attracting engagement of others
 Serving as a voice and champion for the underrepresented
 Displaying dedication and ethics that make them stand out among leaders
Key Dates
 Nominations must be received by Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 4:00 pm.
 The winner will be recognized at the annual Leave A Legacy Donor Next Door Luncheon on
May 12, 2016 and must be available to attend.

Planning of Miami-Dade County which works to increase charitable giving for all
nonprofits. Leave A Legacy accomplishes its mission by encouraging members
of the general public to create a legacy through charitable giving.
