From Cells To Body Systems You now know all organisms are made of cells. You also know there are different kinds of cells. But what do you call it when there is a bunch of one kind of cell connected together? The answer is tissues. Tissues are a group of the same kind of cells working together. Bacteria, Protists and single-celled Fungi do not have tissues. Tissues are only found in multi-cellular organisms......namely plants and animals. Tissues create structures called organs and perform other functions for multi-celled organisms. Add tissues and its definition to your glossary. Next, Google 2 different animal tissues as examples. Name the tissue, where it's found in the body and paste a picture of cells representing that tissue. Tissue: Where is it found in the body? Paste a picture of this tissue's cells here: Tissue: Where is it found in the body? Paste a picture of this tissue's cells here: Organs are structures in plants and animals and have several tissues working together. Some organs are devoted just to the needs of cells, such as lungs delivering oxygen. Other organs take care of the needs of the whole organism, such as the brain. Add organs and its definition to your glossary. Below name the tissue, what organ it helps create and paste a picture of that organ. Tissue: What organ does this tissue help create: Where is it found inside the body? Paste a picture of this organ here: Tissue: What organ does this tissue help create: Where is it found inside the body? Paste a picture of this organ here: Plants don't have near the number of organs that animals do.....but they do have 3. Roots, stems & leaves. Roots Where are roots found on the plant? Paste a picture of plant roots here: Stems Where are stems found on the plant? Paste a picture of plant stems here: Leaves Where are leaves found on the plant? Paste a picture of plant leaves here: Finally, we have systems. Systems are organizations of 2 or more organs that perform a function for the organism. For example, the brain, spinal cord and nerves make up the Nervous System. Add systems and its definition to your glossary. We will focus on the 3 important animal systems....The digestive system, the circulatory system & respiratory system. Google, then list all the organs that make up each system: Digestive System: Circulatory System: Respiratory System:
