From Cells To Body Systems
You now know all organisms are made of cells. You also know there are different kinds of
cells. But what do you call it when there is a bunch of one kind of cell connected
together? The answer is tissues. Tissues are a group of the same kind of cells working
together. Bacteria, Protists and single-celled Fungi do not have tissues. Tissues are only
found in multi-cellular organisms......namely plants and animals. Tissues create structures
called organs and perform other functions for multi-celled organisms.

Organs are structures in plants and animals and have several tissues working together.
Some organs are devoted just to the needs of cells, such as lungs delivering oxygen.
Other organs take care of the needs of the whole organism, such as the brain.

function for the organism. For example, the brain, spinal cord and nerves make up the
Nervous System.
