Initial Field Trip Handout for Marine Ecology
1. The total cost of the trip per person (not including food) will be:
Single room: $228
Double room: $142
Triple room: $121
Quad: $110.50
This fee includes everything except food (e.g., all transportation, lodging, parking
fees, whale watch, and aquarium).
2. Please turn a check (to SUNY ESF with “Marine Ecology” in the memo section) or cash
into the cashier in Bray Hall (102 Bray) for this amount. Please pay by Friday (7 April).
Bring me or the TAs your receipt from the cashier so that we can check you off the list.
See me if you have any troubles with this.
3. We will be driving in 2 buses and 2 vans. It is about a 7 hour drive to our motel (Best
Western) in Falmouth, so we will leave at noon. If you have class that afternoon and
absolutely will not be able to leave at noon, please see me to get your name on the late
list ASAP.
4. Please check your room assignment on my current list (made from your list) and initial it
or provide any changes. I need to FAX a final version by April 5.
5. Be sure to bring along some cash to buy food. You might also want to pack along a bit of
food for snacks (especially if you have special dietary needs, or don’t feel like eating
food bought along the way). We will be stopping on the road for food on Friday and
Sunday (we’ll be flexible about where to stop, but sometimes there are not good options
that will suit everyone’s needs). There are a few places to eat and a supermarket near the
motel. If you want to forage for breakfast, a few vans will drive to a nearby area on
Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 AM. There is a small snack bar on the Whale Watch boat,
but you may want to pack lunch to eat on the trip. You can get dinner on your own in
Falmouth on Saturday night, and lunch on Sunday at the aquarium or in the Quincy
Market (within walking distance of the aquarium).
6. Please see me if you have any concerns or questions!
