THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF ARTS SCHOLARS Master: Alastair Leslie DISCOVERING SOUTHWARK A walking tour lasting about 90 minutes On Tuesday August 11th 2015 at 6.15pm Meet at Southwark tube Station Following on from her successful tours of the City and King’s Cross, Liveryman and Blue Badge Guide, Deborah Charles, will take us on a tour of discovery in the Southwark of today. We will stroll through an area of London that has been given a totally new lease of life over the last few decades. We will discover some of the former delights of the area. Historically, here was the theatreland of London and well as other forms of entertainment that were excluded from the City! Subsequently, much of the landscape was changed by railways and industry. Come and discover the Southwark of today, vibrant for many years with the arts venues but it has continued to develop and is now a more diverse area with many new residences and offices attracting a new population yet again. The tour will end somewhere near a South bank watering hole, not too far from London Bridge. TICKETS: £15 each (inc VAT).
