The entry fees in 1 these classes include a £10.50 Horse of the Year Show contribution. N.B. Additional Horse of the Year Show entry forms can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk/www.northofenglandshows.co.uk SHB (GB) CLASSES All Hunter classes will be judged under the Society’s rules and SHB(GB) (01732866277) require all entries in the Hunter classes to be Registered. Classes 16-19 and 22 are qualifying events for the Horse of the Year Show 2012 and only horses registered on the 2012 Show Hunter register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on the entry form, and owners and riders must be members of the society. The highest placed unqualified horse in the first four in classes 16-19, 22 will qualify to enter at the Horse of the Year Show. No horse lower than fourth in its class will qualify. Classes 16-19 are qualifying events for the 2012 NHSCS. The three highest placed horses in each class will qualify to enter at the NHSCS. No horse lower than third in its class will qualify. Horses in classes 15, 20 21, 23 - 25 are only required to be registered on the Basic Identity Record or Stud Book of the Society. The Society offers a temporary registration to competitors who wish to compete at a maximum of two qualifying shows for a fee of £12 per show. If the horse subsequently qualifies then they will need to complete their full registration before the championship final and a £12 fee will be refunded. Any exhibit found not to be correctly registered will be disqualified. A skull cap or hat and safety harness, according to the current BSI or European standard MUST BE WORN by all competitors under the age of eighteen in all Sport Horse (GB) Classes. Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover. Horses competing in SHB (GB) classes at their affiliated shows cannot compete in Hack and Riding Horse classes at the same show. This does not apply to Working Hunter and Ridden Sport Horse Classes. AMATEUR STATUS: A person is an amateur for showing purposes when showing ridden hunters in an amateur class if he or she does not: a) Engage in, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses as a means of deriving a main source of income since 1st January 2010. b) Accept remuneration whether it be monetary or goods in kind for employment in connection with horses in a racing, showing, livery stable or riding school. (Instruction at Pony Club or Riding Club excepted) since 1st January 2010. c) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm or a horse for which his or her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate concern since 1st January 2010. d) Show a horse which a professional rider has qualified in the weights or small ridden hunter class for either the Horse of the Year Championships or the Royal International Horse Show during the current year, unless the horse has subsequently reregistered under new ownership. e) Professional show persons must not enter the Amateur Ring whilst the classes are in progress. f) A professional rider must not ride or exercise an amateur’s horse on the day it is competing in amateur classes. BSHA CLASSES Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association (01462 437770). Horses must be registered with the Association and all owners, exhibitors and riders must be Association members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Classes 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 are qualifying classes for Horse of the Year Show 2012. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified, the second will qualify. If the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward and so forth to fifth place. In accordance with BSHA rules the annual BSHA Horse of the Year Show fee of £15 must have been paid to BSHA before the entry is made if the exhibitor wishes to qualify. The BSHA Horse of the Year Show fee cannot be paid in retrospect. This fee is not the Horse of the Year Show levy, which goes to Grandstand Media Ltd. Non members may purchase up to a maximum of two ‘Day Tickets’ per exhibitor, per horse, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Novice, Amateur, Home Produced and Working Classes only but will not allow entry into Horse of the Year Show qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB Height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form from 2 the BSHA website – www.britishshowhorse.org Horses competing in SHB (GB) classes at their affiliated shows cannot compete in Hack and Riding Horse classes at the same show. Hacks are barred from Riding Horse classes and vice versa. The three highest placed prize winners in all open affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes at the National Championship Show at Addington (7th/ 8th September 2012) The BSHA offers a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each open class and a Championship rosette for each section. Virbac Animal Health, manufacturers of leading wormer brands Equimax and Eraquell will issue the Horse of the Year Show Cob qualifier in each class a qualification rosette and card. This will not be presented in the ring but will be forwarded along with confirmation of qualification from the BSHA. A Novice is a Hack, Cob or Riding Horse which has not won a first prize of £25 or more or a total of £100 in any BSHA affiliated showing classes at home or abroad prior to 1 January 2012. Winnings gained as a four year old are exempt unless that four year old has won an open ridden class. A novice may be shown in a snaffle bridle. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Showjumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1 st January 2012- is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter Classes. To be judged 60% for jumping performance, 40% as for Hunter Classes. The jumping to be judged 40% actual jumping and 20% style and presence. Ride and conformation 40%. Horses with minus scores after the jumping phase will not be required for the second phase of the class. Fences to be a minimum of eight and a maximum of twelve in number. Maximum height 3'9" -1.14 mtrs(Novice class- min height 2’9” -0.85mtrs max 3’3”;1.00mtr Amateur and Restricted classesmax height 3’6” 1.07 mtrs) at the discretion of the judges. There must be a change of course between Novice, Restricted Open and Open Working Hunter classes. Working Hunters may compete ‘hors concours’ in novice and restricted working hunter classes in the jumping phase only at the discretion of the show secretary but the horse cannot compete in any other working hunter classes for the duration of that show. All obstacles are numbered. Fences should have a natural presence and not be easily dislodged. The manner of going to be taken into account. No change of rider or tack will be allowed (unless a horse is ridden side saddle, in which cases in order to allow the judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the riding phase only). No hind boots or bandages of any description are allowed in the collecting ring, warm up or in the actual class. On completion of the jumping phase all clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require, should be asked to return to the ring. If a horse positively stops or turns its quarters to a fence or has a complete turnaround, these constitute refusals. If a horse jumps the incorrect fence out of a pen or lane it will be eliminated. Horses displaying continued disobedience or horses leaving the ring whether mounted or dismounted will be eliminated. In the event of a horse falling during a class that horse will be asked to leave the ring and will not be allowed to compete further in that class. Exhibitors will be allowed to compete two horses in a Working Hunter Class but following the jumping phase it will be up to the exhibitor to select ONLY ONE horse to take forward into the ridden and conformation section if required. Working Hunter courses are not to be walked by competitors until the judge has given permission.
