Essay – 1 page typed discussing how being blind or visually impaired (or a family member or close friend) has affected their lives and the challenges they overcame. 1. Guidance counselor/ teacher/principal recommendation 2. Essay-500 words discussing college and career plans. Include any hardships, obstacles or special circumstance 1. Essay - 1 page typed discussing commitment to the community, desire to obtain an education, challenges or obstacles to obtaining that education, why student would like to receive this scholarship, goals and dreams, etc. None - Must be a minority senior Minimum GPA is 3.0 Should be involved in community service Recipients must commit to volunteering at two (2) Cleveland Indians Community Outreach Events throughout the year based on scheduling and availability. 1. Essay – typed double-spaced 500 words or less. Why do you want to go college? What motivates you? How do you plan to contribute to society after graduation? Inglis Scholarship (renewable) - 3.0 GPA 20 or higher on ACT or 930 or higher on SAT 4 year college or university Cuyahoga, Lorain & Medina Counties Malone Scholarship - The Malone’s are looking for students with passion, drive, energy, a sense of humor & financial need. There is no tangible list of requirements. Preference will be given to students who are attending college in Ohio. Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties Phi Beta Kappa - 3.5 cumulative GPA 29 ACT composite or 1250 SAT combined verbal and math Demonstrate financial need (they are not required to follow College Now financial guidelines) Plan to pursue a degree in liberal arts. 1. Essay – 1 page typed – explain interest in science, technology or mathematics and how scholarship would help them achieve his or her goals. 2. Essay-1 page typed, why student needs a scholarship; include any special circumstances, obstacles, what he/she wants to major in, career goals, dreams, aspirations, etc. 1. Recommendation Letter from a Guidance Counselor, Teacher, or Principal 2. Student essay, typed, approximately 1 ½ - 2 pages, discussing activities, goals and intended course of study 1. 500 word maximum essay explaining how you intend to use the knowledge you receive from The Ohio State University to better serve your community Cuyahoga County Young Buckeyes - Must be attending Ohio State University CMSD Jack W. and Shirley Berger Scholars of Promise Scholarship (up to $5,000 four-year renewable) Must maintain 3.0 cumulative GPA in college - Attend a four-year college or university Take one comparative religion class at college or university before the end of their sophomore year. Top 10% of high school senior class or have a GPA of at least 3.75 if the high school does not rank. ACT score of 25 or higher or 1130 or higher on the SAT Critical Reading and Math Tests. None CMSD Rotary Scholarship - None Cuyahoga County Charles and Margaret Jones Scholarship - Must be active in the community Must be willing and available to participate in local Rotary Club activities (attending college locally would be advantageous) Must attend Ohio University, Harvard University, or Michigan State University Must major in government, politics, education African-American and Latino students preferred - None Cleveland Bill Christopher Alcoa Leadership Scholarship ($2500 four-year renewable) - 2.5 GPA, 18 ACT, 860 SAT Student must be extremely motivated, goal oriented, and very serious about education John Hay High School Gloria Pointer Scholarship ($1,000 one-year) - Euclid High School Bobby R. Larkin Sr. Scholarship - Glenville High School Wolf Scholarship ($5000 four-year renewable) Female Student must have faced particular obstacles or hardships along the way. Situations may include parent incarceration, drug abuse in the family, unlawful death, etc. 2.5 GPA They are to attend an accredited 2-year or 4-year public or private not for profit college in 2012-2013 Must be a Euclid High School senior 2.5 GPA - 1. Essay-1 page, discussing commitment to community service, desire to obtain education, career goals, include any obstacles or special circumstance, and why the student would like to receive this scholarship. 1. Essay describing her goals and ambitions, as well as sharing the obstacles she has faced in pursuit of dreams. 1. Essay explaining life goal and how the scholarship will help you achieve them 1. Essay – 1 page on academic and career goals, include obstacles or special circumstances. 2. Advisor, Counselor, Teacher, or Principal recommendation.
