We will develop the tools and techniques that will enable you to analyze and solve problems related to a variety of physical systems and situations. By the end of the class you will have a solid grounding in the important ideas of physics, and will be ready to continue studying it at whatever level you would like. You will learn to think scientifically, and learn how scientists solve complex problems. Study Materials: Required Texts: “Physics”, by Tippens, 7th Edition. Available from the college bookstore “Physics 11 Laboratory Manual” Also available in the bookstore. Other Materials: A Protractor, a Ruler, and a Scientific Calculator are required for this class. Attendance Attendance at all classes is expected. If you are absent for more than 6 consecutive hours during the first 7 weeks you may be dropped. Credit is given for attendance: 100% attendance receives a credit of 5% towards the final grade, other attendance 1 Phys 11—Sp 2011 percentages will receive a pro rata value. Arriving more than 15 minutes late to any class will count as an absence.
