SMOV Activity: WF05
Program ID: N/A
Title: IR Detector Activation
PI: J. MacKenty
Requirements addressed: L.10.4.1.1.10
2. Expected Datasets: none

3. Time Criticality
a. Real time SMOV activities or impact on SMOV flow:
Precursor to all WFC3 IR Activities (i.e. all except WF01, WF02,
and WF03 and UVIS only activities)
b. Impact on WFC3 science operations readiness:
Required to reach IR science start
c. Impact on WFC3 pipeline readiness/maturity:
none
d. Impact on other calibrations (e.g. SIAF):
none (WF17 – IR TEC Performance – provides this info)
e. Impact on ERO program:
Required precursor for IR observations.
4. Analysis Activities
a. One paragraph description:
The WFC3 Science and Engineering teams will work with the HST
thermal team to assess readiness and outcome of this activity. This activity
requires PI approval to proceed at approximately the mid-point of the
BEA period (i.e. 7-10 days prior to execution of this activity). Analysis of
the thermal state of WFC3 during a 14-20 hour constant attitude in a
relatively warm orientation will permit assessment of the performance of
the WFC3 radiator and detection of large departures from pre-launch
model predictions. This is a prerequisite for this activity to proceed.
During cooldown of the detector WFC3 and HST, thermal and
engineering will monitor and abort (hold) the cooldown if WFC3 does not
react as expected.
b. SMOV data dependencies: none
c. Ground test data dependencies:
This required TV3 correlated thermal model.
