Awards/ Recognitions:
National French Test: I received 10th place in the National French Exam
Level II.
NC state mathematics competition: I was nominated to participate in a
state wide Algebra II mathematics competition.
Clubs:
Student Government: I have been an active member since 9th grade. I was
chosen to be a member of the Executive Committee as a sophomore (only
2 females and 2 males were chosen in each grade level). We have a
lunchtime meeting every Wednesday. I was appointed the Co-leader of the
Senior Cabinet this year.
Habitat for Humanity: I was an avid member in 9th and 10th grades. We
conducted numerous fundraisers to raise funds to build houses for the
underprivileged. Our meetings were held every Thursday at lunch.
Activities:
Varsity Tennis: I was a member of the Varsity Tennis team both in 9th and
10th grades. I received a Letter my Freshmen year.
Recreational Basketball: I was a member of two Championship winning
teams in both 9th, and 12th grade.
Rainbow Soccer coach: I am a co-coach for a 6-8 year old girls Rainbow
Soccer team. Practice is held twice a week for one hour and we also have a
game every Saturday. Last year, we went undefeated and won the
Championship game.
Summer Activities:
Outward Bound: I participated in a 14 day Outward Bound Leadership
program in the Appalachian Mountains during the summer before 9th
grade.
Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceutical Summer Internship: I was a summer
intern at Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals in Wayne, New Jersey. I was
the only high school student working there and it gave me an opportunity
to learn about the complexities of an international pharmaceutical
company and network with older employees.
Light Aircraft Flight Training: I did Ground School work and basic flight
training in Cessna 172 and 152 aircraft, logging hours with a trained pilot.
Tennis Camp Consoler: Tennis instructor at Hope Valley Tennis Club,
where I taught and helped young children (ages 6-8) to learn to play
tennis.
Tennis Pro Shop: Manage the front desk and direct people to places for
matches and competitive tournaments.
Interests:
My interests are in the fields of Mathematics, Applied Science, Economics and
Engineering.
