They have been used, after much development, in various processes such as welding and removing, surface engineering, additive manufacturing and others, and have also played an important role in such industries as aeronautics, aerospace, shipbuilding, weapon, transport and healthcare. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th International Conferences on Power Beam Processing Technologies were hosted by the National Key Laboratory for Power Beam Processing Technologies, to promote a platform for technical exchanges among the scholars at home and abroad and forward technical application and development of power beam processing technologies. “The 5th International Conference on Power Beam Processing Technologies (ICPBPT)” will be held in September 2014, once again hosted by the National Key Laboratory for Power Beam Processing Technologies, in order to further promote innovation, application and development of power beam processing technologies. It will be an influential international meeting, of high academic level. ICPBPT2014 will focus on current research and new developments in the fields of power beam processing technologies. World-wide distinguished experts will be invited to deliver lectures at the plenary session. Submitted papers will be published by the conference organizers and selected papers of high or outstanding quality, which will be recommended to be published in journals. Topics Topics to be covered will include the range of laser, electron beam, ion beam & plasma processing technologies, hybrid beam techniques and relevant research on testing, controlling, evaluation, application and equipment developments.
