central Manchester. Peel Media is working in partnership with Salford City Council, Central
Salford Urban Regeneration Company, the Northwest Regional Development Agency and
Northwest Vision and Media. The BBC will move around 2,500 staff to MediaCityUK from
2011 onwards. They will be joined by The BBC Philharmonic and the University of Salford
have committed to a new higher education centre at MediaCityUK, which will accommodate
more than 700 students and staff.

arts; they support a range of artistic activities from theatre to music, literature to dance,
photography to digital art and carnival to crafts.
www.nalgao.org – This site provides information for those interested in local arts in Britain
and is also a professional development resource for nalgao members. The public area of the
site carries news, a number of sample case studies and some resource material.

Arts:
National funding bodies that can help finance a wide range of artistic initiatives:

Regularly Funded Organisations - Arts Council England currently provides around 880
organisations with annual grants to cover core costs. These are known as Regularly Funded
Organisations (RFOs).
From April 2012 the National Portfolio Funding Programme will
replace the RFO programme, which will end on 31 March 2012. It will provide funding for a
national portfolio of organisations.
Grants for the Arts - Grants for the arts are for activities carried out over a set period and
which engage people in England in arts activities, and help artists and arts organisations in
England carry out their work.
Grants for the arts is administered through Arts Council
England and funded by the National Lottery. You can now submit your application to Grants
for the arts online at www.artscouncil.org.uk/funding/grants-arts.

The Jerwood Charitable Foundation gives funding and sponsorship mainly to the visual and
performing arts and to literature.
