Specifically, the evaluation of the: feasibility and acceptability for the use of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale by the primary health care system; effectiveness of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale in assisting primary health care professionals to identify women/families at risk; and effectiveness of the use of the psychosocial assessment questions, as outlined in the beyondblue draft Clinical Practice Guidelines for Depression and Related Disorders (Anxiety, Bipolar and Puerperal Psychosis) in the Perinatal Period, in increasing help-seeking behaviours and overcoming barriers (consumer and health professional) to effective care.
