www.victoriacountyhistory.ac.uk Cornwall PARISH TEMPLATE STUDY - – ST DENNIS PROBATE TRANSCRIPTON – WILL Ref No AP/G/7770/1 Title GRIGG Abraham of St Dennis, yeoman Date of probate* 28 Sep 1836 Description Bequests - To “dear wife” Jane Grigg all leasehold, lands, tenements and hereditaments situated in Enniscaven in St. Dennis parish “for and during her natural life if my right and interest therein shall so long continue”. - After Jane Grigg’s death the above to be shared equally between Richard Grigg “son of my Wife whom I had by her before marriage” and sons Abraham and Jacob Grigg as tenants in common for residue of his interest in the property. - To son Joseph Grigg the plot of ground “now in her [sic] occupation” called the little Moor, part of testator’s estate called Penrose Veor in the parish of St Dennis for ever and to keep possession of the house he lives in there “so long as he shall think proper to reside in the said House” at a rent of £5 per year. - To son John Grigg £15 to be paid in £5 instalments, one, two and three years after testator’s death. - To grandson Abraham Grigg, son of John Grigg, £10 to be paid when he reaches 21 years of age. - To daughter Jane, wife of Robert Grigg, daughter Martha, wife of Silas Liddicoat, and son Jacob Grigg one annuity or yearly rent charge of £1 each for life to be paid in “lawful British money” out of Penrose Veor estate in quarterly payments, the first payment to be made one quarter year after testator’s wife Jane Grigg’s decease. If the payments are not made the testator grants to any or all of the annuitants the right to recover their respective annuity from the estate. - To daughter Martha Liddicoat the best bed complete with bedding. - To son Joseph Grigg the bed and bedding in testator’s lodging room. - To son Abraham Grigg shelves and dresser. - To sons Richard and Jacob Grigg and daughter Martha Liddicoat the rest of the household furniture to be shared equally. - To son Abraham Grigg the house and garden which he occupies in the estate of Penrose Veor, for ever. - To wife Jane Grigg the estate Penrose Veor for life, subject to payment of the interest due on the mortgage of it. - To son Isaac Grigg and his heirs forever, the estate and lands and hereditaments called Penrose Veor and all the remainder of testator’s goods, chattels and personal estate after all the payments have been Jane Varker Page 1 of 2 Parish Template St Dennis made.
