DERBYSHIRE DALES DISTRICT COUNCIL COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT JOB DESCRIPTION POST: Leisure Marketing & Sales Officer RESPONSIBLE TO: Leisure Facilities Officer POST HOLDER: DATE APPOINTED: _________________________________________________________________ PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POST: To assist the Leisure Facilities Officer in the promotion of sport, leisure and recreational facilities, and specifically producing and managing an effective pre-opening marketing campaign for the District Council’s new leisure facility in Matlock. RESPONSIBLE FOR: 1. Assisting the Leisure Facilities Officer in discussions with locals clubs, schools and user groups for the programming of the new Leisure Centre. 2. Co-ordinating and promoting the holiday and event programmes. 3. Providing regular feedback the Leisure Management Team on performance of courses, memberships and general up-take of activities/services. 4. Provide a monthly report to the Leisure Facilities Officer. This will include, but not be limited to, reporting on the status of prioritised marketing and communication activities. Reporting will be both historical and forward looking. 5. To manage print production, receipt and effective distribution – including: a) Proof reading relevant literature/materials b) Deciding on the radius of the target area c) Identifying outlets where information should be available d) Ensuring that a database of current and prospective clients is available and upto-date. 6. Ensuring that activities/events are effectively marketed both internally and externally to relevant audiences. 7. Ensuring that all necessary marketing material is readily available. 8. Overseeing course, activity and membership sales within Leisure Centres. 9. Meeting annual and monthly sales targets. 10. Increase the overall attendances in Leisure Centres, paying particular attention to the tourism market. D:\116101646.doc 11. Supporting the Leisure Centre Managers in maximising the number of participants on courses and activities. 12. Increasing the number of memberships sales in each Leisure Centre. 13. Monitoring and evaluating marketing campaigns. 14. To assist the Leisure Facilities Officer and the District Council’s Marketing and Promotions Officer in the production of a Marketing Plan for the new Leisure Centre and the Leisure Service. 15. Communicating with target audiences and further developing customer relations. 16. Aiding the Leisure Facilities Officer in conducting market research such as customer questionnaires, focus groups and forums. 17. Supporting the Leisure Facilities Officer in sourcing and securing sponsorship. 18. Providing sales support and guidance to front of house employees. 19. Developing a key message to all audiences. 20. Providing regular web updates to the relevant Authors, ensuring that the Leisure Service pages are up-to-date, relevant and appropriately worded for each target audience. 21.
