We wish to emphasize that this award is given to the faculty member for outstanding scholarly achievement and research. Our college recipient may be eligible for the university-wide Provost’s award. Past awardees are: Dale Hample, Communication, 2005 Samuel Edsall, Broadcasting, 2007 Nathan Miczo, Communication, 2008 Robert Quesal, Communication Sciences and Disorders, 2009 Bree McEwan, Communication, 2012 Chris Carpenter, Communication, 2013 Submission Instructions: Please note that the following are general guidelines for applicants and not intended to be all encompassing criteria that each candidate must possess for consideration. Applicants are not expected to address each of the listed criteria although; to be competitive candidates will have significant contributions in the identified areas. Applications for this award are limited to five (5) pages of narrative (single-spaced) and ten (10) pages of supporting documentation. Please allow one-inch margins on all sides and use a 12point font. Those applicants not observing these guidelines will be eliminated from consideration for the provost’s award. The award evaluates a record covering a period of the most recent three (3) years, summers included, beginning with August 1, 2010, continuing through July 31, 2013. Process of Selection and Nomination Guidelines 1. The Scholarly Activity Award Committee is comprised of the six chairpersons/director and the dean of the college. academic 2. The committee reviews all submitted materials. One faculty from the College of Fine Arts and Communication will be selected to receive the award. All full-time faculty are eligible for this award. 3. The six department chairs/director and the dean may not nominate a faculty member for the award. 4. Nominations are accepted from a faculty member in the college, from a student, or a faculty member may self-nominate. 5. Nomination forms are distributed through the college office (attached). 6. The nominee is responsible for putting together the packet of information. 7. A person from a college should not receive the award more than once in a five-year period. 8. Return the nomination packet to the college office by 4:30 p.m. on April 4, 2014. The nomination must include the following: a. A narrative statement from the nominator outlining the nominee’s scholarly achievements and their significance to the discipline. b.
