GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNTY SCOUT COUNCIL County Badge Courses Spring 2003 Courses are open to all members of the Scout section. There are no specific age restrictions, but please read the full badge requirements (your Scout Leader should have a book, or look on the internet at www.scoutbase.org.uk) and discuss them with your own Scout Leader, to ensure you are capable of completing the tasks required. Copy this form and give it to your friends! Master-at-Arms. Course Full IT. Friday 7th – Sunday 9th February. Fairford Scout HQ. You get the change to do stage 2, 3 or 4 of the new staged IT Badge. Learn about Information Technology – computers and the Internet. Talk to Scouts from around the world. Accommodation is indoors and catering is provided. £17 Climber. Wednesday 26th – Thursday 27th February. Held at the Warehouse Indoor Climbing Centre in Gloucester. Climbing and bouldering indoors using the extensive facilities and fully qualified instructors. All climbing equipment provided. Indoor accommodation and catering included. £40 Hill Walker (Part). Friday 7th – Saturday 8th March. Sleep Friday night in a Scout HQ before travelling to the Brecon Beacons for a day hike on the Saturday. £15 including transport. You need 5 hikes for the badge. Expedition Challenge [+Navigator (A) Badge]. 21st/23rd March AND 11th/13th April. A chance to complete one of the new Challenges and the Navigator Badge (by car) if you are good enough. Includes a weekend at Chalfont Heights Scout Camp & another one hiking around Cranham. Full details on separate sheet. £43 Badge Weekend. Friday 4th – Sunday 6th April. Based indoors at Cranham with catering provided. £22. You choose to do one of these badges: Pioneer – learn more knots and lashings & build some interesting structures outdoors. Mechanic – learn how to fix your Dad’s car! Camp Site Service – learn how to help out at Cranham working with the Warden and his team. You will need to arrange to go back on three other days to complete the badge. You most hold the Camper Badge. Survival Skills. Saturday 24th – Monday 26th May. Held in a large private wood in Wiltshire where you learn about lighting fires, building bivouacs, preparing and cooking meals without utensils and other survival skills. After the first night you go on to complete a 24 hour survival exercise, using these skill and sleeping in your own bivouac. £22 – all food provided. Water Weekend. Saturday 14th OR Sunday 15th June. Fairford Scouts Water Base. £12 per day. Scouts are invited to attend for one day (second day at a reduced fee if there’s room). Activities planned are canoeing, sailing and raft building. Show clearly on application form the day you prefer. All Scouts attending this course must be able to swim 50 metres in ordinary clothes & keep afloat for 5 minutes.
