KARABS HIGH POINT RULES
ELIGIBILITY:
Horses must be registered with either the Arabian Horse Registry, lnternational Arabian Horse
Association, or the Anglo-Arabian Registry
The owner and rider must be a member in good standing of the KARABS. Lease horses for the
purpose of showing in High Point will be honored under the following requirements:
(1) Written verification of Lease to accompany nomination.
(2) The horse must be shown at all times under the Lessee's ownership.
(3) The Lessee must be a member in good standing of the KARABS.
NOMINATION:
(1) A nomination fee of $25.00 per horse for the must be paid for the Purebred, Half
Arabian and Open (non-youth) classifications. The fee for Youth ages 14-17 is $15.
There is a $5.00 fee for the 13 & under and 10 & under Youth Divisions. A fee must be
paid for each horse and rider combination. Upon receipt of this fee by KARABS, the
horse will be eligible to compete in either the Purebred Arabian and Open Divisions, or
both the Half-Arabian and Open Divisions for Adult and Youth 14-17.
(2) A photocopy of the horse’s registration papers must accompany the fee. Fees and
papers must be received before points will be counted.
POINT REQUIREMENTS:
(1) Points may be earned at all shows. Points earned in shows held in Kentucky will count
double.
(2) Only classes where the horse is judged will count. Any classes where the rider is
judged on his/her ability, rather than on the horse’s performance, will not be considered to
be a point class. Examples: Horsemanship, Equitation, Showmanship, etc. (Exception:
Youth Division, see Youth Rules)
(3) Points will end November 1st.
(4) Points must be submitted on forms supplied by KARABS, and accompanied by a Prize
List of the show, to the High Point Secretary within 30 days of the closing date of the
show. Prize list must include the Show Secretary's name, address, and phone number, or
point forms will be returned to the exhibitors and these points will not count toward High
Point Awards.
(5) There will be no minimum number of entries required in a class. Double points will be
given in any class of 18 or more entries. (Does not apply to regional and national
classes).
(6) The judge may not judge any horse that has been owned, trained, or boarded by them
or their immediate family or their employees or their immediate family within 90 days of the
show date. This also applies to anyone instructing riding.

(7) If a horse is sold during an Award year, and the new owner is a member in good
standing of KARABS, the points will follow the horse. Otherwise, points will stop at the
date of sale.
CLASSIFICATION OF AWARDS:
(1) Purebred Arabian (class A/B shows) - Adult
(2) Purebred Arabian Open (Class C and Open shows) - Adult
(3) Half-Arabian (Class A/B shows) - Adult
(4) Half-Arabian Open (Class C and Open shows) - Adult
(5) Youth - One Division with no distinctions between Class A, B, C or Open shows for
sections I and II.
Section I – Youth 10 & under – Leadline and Walk-Trot Only
Section II – Youth 13 & Under
Section III -Youth 14-17 (Class A/B shows)
Section III – Youth 14-17 Open (Class C and Open shows)
EXCEPTION:
YOUTH CLASSIFICATIONS WILL NOT BE COMBINED DUE TO LOW ENTRIES
The USEF requirements will be KARABS requirements. However, the show need not be USEF
Approved
RATING OF SHOWS:
All shows will fall into two categories
CLASS A/B – All AHA Sanctioned shows that carry a rating of CLASS A or CLASS B
CLASS C - All other shows will receive Class C points.
OPEN DIVISION:
(Defined) Arabians and Half-Arabians showing in combined classes and/or Arabians and HalfArabians showing in classes with other breeds. All open shows will carry the Class C rating.
(EXCEPTIONS: SEE BELOW FOR NSH & DRESSAGE)
SPECIAL RULES FOR NSH AND DRESSAGE CLASSES:
Any National Show Horse or Dressage class that is held at an AHA sanctioned Class A Arabian
Show will count as Class A points in either the Arabian or Half-Arabian Division for the horse
being shown.
Any National Show Horse or Dressage class that is NOT held at an AHA sanctioned Class A
Arabian Show will earn Class C points. The exhibitor may choose to have these points counted
in either the appropriate Arabian or Half-Arabian Division or in Open Division. Any point form
which does not specify where to put these points will be counted in the Open Division.
NSH District Championship classes held in conjunction with a Class A Arabian show will count
the same as a Regional Championship class. The NSH National Championships, which are
NOT held in conjunction with a Class A Arabian show shall count as Class C points.

SPECIAL NOTES ON POINTS RECEIVED:
When a show other than a Regional or National Championship awards placings other than the
traditional 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th, such as “TOP *”, it is the responsibility of the exhibitor to find out
the horse’s actual numeric placing from the show officials before submitting the points to the
high point secretary. OTHERWISE, THE POINTS WILL NOT BE COUNTED!!!

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT IN ORDER TO BE FAIR AND IMPARTIAL, ALL POINTS WILL
BE CHECKED WITH SHOW SECRETARIES.
SINCE HIGH POINT RUNS UNTIL NOVEMBER 1ST OF EACH YEAR, ALL POINTS WON IN
OCTOBER MUST BE POSTMARKED ON OR BEFORE NOVEMBER 1ST IN ORDER TO BE
COUNTED FOR THE YEAR-END AWARDS.
YOUTH DIVISION:
Any youth who is a member in good standing of KARABS, either by family or individual
associated membership, who has not reached his/her 18th birthday by December 1st of the
preceding year is eligible to compete. The youth may compete on either a registered Arabian or
Half-Arabian.
A nomination fee of $15 is required for the 14-17 yrs classification in this division. There is a
$5.00 fee for the 13 & under and 10 & under classifications. A nomination form must be filled
out and a fee paid for each horse and rider combination. Once entered as a youth, all
points will be counted as youth points. This includes equitation as well as other points.
Youth may enter more than one horse, but each horse must be entered separately and a fee
paid for each horse. Points will be accumulated for each horse separately.
Upon submission of a nomination form, each youth/Horse combination will be entered in the
appropriate age grouping. Only the 14-17 yr group will have two Divisions: Class A/B and Open
(Class C). All shows that are not AHA Sanctioned shows rated Class A/B will be counted in the
Open Division.
There will be no Cross-Entering with regular High Point Awards
Point count will be the same as the Adult divisions.
