Service:
The Centre provides 17 units of temporary and emergency accommodation for
homeless families and individuals under a licence agreement with housing support
available on site.
The Centre is managed by a Centre manager, with two support workers offering
dedicated and bespoke housing support to all residents during their period of
occupancy and for a short period following move-on.
Residents are expected to prepare their own meals, using the facilities provided on
site.
Admission to the Centre is via referral from the Council’s Housing Solutions
service

Service:
Glyn Cynffig is owned by BCBC and managed by the Wellbeing directorate. It
accommodates up to 16 service users, 12 of which are Supporting People funded to
provide rehabilitation support and assistance to people aged 18 years and over who
have a mental health diagnosis, often with co-occurring substance misuse and complex
needs.
The service offers support to service users as part of an agreed discharge plan for a
short period on discharge from Glyn Cynffig in order to ease the transition. The
service extends to people who have forensic histories.

BCBC Young Persons Supported Lodgings
Service:
Managed by BCBC’s Children’s Directorate, After Care/16+ Team, the project is for
vulnerable young people who have been looked after by the local authority. Supporting
People funds 8 placements which are provided by individual support providers who
host service users in their own homes. Young people are supported to develop life
skills and prepare them for independent living.

Service
Core services range from help and advice finding and managing a home and support
for those with mental health issues, through to creative or skills workshops and social
activities.
The Bridgend project provides 8 units of temporary supported housing in two shared
houses within walking distance of Bridgend town centre for people with mental health
and complex needs that are experiencing difficulties in accessing accommodation.
Staff provides information, advocacy and advice on housing rights. They also offer
advice on appropriate services and casework support.

As a mental health charity, Gofal supports people to maintain their health and
wellbeing through community based supported housing projects across Wales.
Services range from providing low-level support for individuals as part of their
journey to independent living through to high-intensity support for people with
complex and challenging mental health problems and other support needs.
In Bridgend, Gofal acts as managing agent for 2 housing associations and provides 20
units of supported housing in 5 shared houses with a team of support workers who
offer a range of emotional and practical support to people with mental health
problems.
The Bridgend Team also provides emotional and social support for people with mental
health problems out of hours and Gofal also has a job coach who provides support to
people with mental health problems returning to or accessing employment through the
work preparation programme.

Gwalia Care & Support
Kerrigan Project
Service:
Commissioned in 2013, the Kerrigan project provides 6 units of high quality temporary
accommodation and one emergency bed which provide high level support with shared
facilities, such as communal lounge and kitchens, for people experiencing homeless
and with very complex support needs, including mental health, offending behaviour
and substance misuse issues.
Support is available on a 24 hour basis. As part of the support service, up to 12 low to
medium level units of floating support are available to service users who move on from
the project into the community to promote the maintenance of their tenancies and
assist with social integration and development of dependant living skills.
Referrals are via Bridgend CBC Housing Solutions Team.

A housing and support scheme for older people (10 units). Two cooked meals are
provided daily by catering staff and residents are charged directly for this service.

Provides 6 units of temporary supported housing for people with mental health issues;
the accommodation comprises one bedroom self-contained flats divided between two
properties.

The Bridgend Resettlement Across Tenures Scheme (BRATs)

failure. The scheme provides peripatetic floating support across the County Borough
to 10 young people at any one time.
Dispersed Project
Provides 6 self-contained units in the community on a floating support basis for young
people who require a high level of support but not in a 24 hour staffed project.

Accommodation is provided in three terraced properties, each of which

floating support.
Service users have tenancy agreements and are supported by a full-time support
worker. During the absence of the support worker, the care manager provides cover,
which includes out-of-hours cover.

Provides peripatetic floating support to 9 families at any one time who have had a
history of mental health related problems.
The service aims to provide support to families who are suffering from the effects
of mental or emotional distress, signpost people to other services within the borough
and provide support to enable families to maintain their tenancy or to access
appropriate housing for their needs.
The service is responsive to the needs and wants of the individuals and their families.
Issues may include: accessing benefits, budgeting, accessing appropriate services
from other organisations, accessing opportunities for work, training, social and leisure
interests, support around housing and tenancy matters.
Assessing the Service
The service is available in the main, but not exclusively, to existing or prospective
tenants of:
Linc Cymru and Wales and West Housing Association, Hafod Housing Association and
Valleys to Coast Housing.

Tenancy Support Service
Provides a floating support service to help people who have their own accommodation
but, for whatever reason, are having difficulty in maintaining their tenancy. The
service plays an important part in the prevention of homelessness in Bridgend.
The service:
• is available to anyone over the age of 16 (including families)
• works with people to find long-term solutions to their problems
• helps address rent arrears, threat of eviction, family disputes and landlord
disagreements
• helps people living in temporary accommodation to access long-term solutions
• provides crisis intervention to anyone at immediate risk of becoming homeless for
any reason

The Vesta Project is a purpose built project owned by United Welsh Housing
Association and managed by The Wallich. It consists of five fully furnished selfcontained flats with communal laundry facilities and a communal living area. This
allows for residents to have the opportunity to gain their independence without the
risk of becoming isolated. The project aims to provide secure, supported
accommodation to individuals who have a history of illicit drug or alcohol misuse and
whom have accessed support agencies to address their issues and wish to remain
substance free.
