APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION AS FIRE SAFETY ENGINEER
Instructions to applicants:
1. The applicant shall submit the following documents to the Fire Safety Engineers (FSE)
Selection Panel:a. Completed prescribed application form for registration as Fire Safety Engineers
b. Certified true copies of documentary evidence of the applicant’s qualifications and
practical experience, if any;
c. Recent testimonials from 2 local referees in Singapore as to his good character. The
referees are to submit the attached Letter of Reference directly to SCDF; and
d. A letter of undertaking by the applicant, stating as at the date of the letter(i)
whether disciplinary or criminal proceedings
contemplated against the applicant; and
are
pending
or
(ii)
whether the applicant’s professional conduct is or has been under
investigation; and
(iii)
whether the applicant has any previous disciplinary or criminal records.
e. Birth Certificate / Citizenship Certificate (Photocopy)
f. A fire safety engineering report for a project that best illustrates the range and depth of
his fire engineering knowledge. As a guide, the format for the report can be downloaded

g. The report shall be reviewed and substantiated by the project FSE as being a true
representation of the applicant’s work. In the case of an applicant who is a foreign
registered FSE, his work shall be reviewed and substantiated by the project director
associated with the project.
2. 5 sets of the above supporting documents are to be submitted, together with a non-refundable
application fee1 of S$250 (before 1 Nov 13) and S$275 (after 1 Nov 13) made payable to
Commissioner SCDF, directly to:

The revised application fee of $275 for registration as FSE, under Fire Safety (Fire Safety Engineers)
Regulations, will come into operation on 1st November 2013.

The closing date for the above application is 1 Dec 2013. Any application received after the
closing date will not be considered.

Prerequisites for applicants
Applicants aspiring to become Registered Fire Safety Engineers under the Fire Safety Act, must
first satisfy the following criteria:
a. Possess at least a degree qualification in the field of fire safety engineering;
b. Have at least 5 continuous years of relevant practical experience in fire design safety
works, of which 3 years or more in aggregate shall involve projects based on fire safety
engineering solutions;
c. Must have maintained a clean record and must not have been found guilty of an offence
under the Fire Safety Act, Professional Engineers Act or Architects Act; and
d. Successful interview with the Fire Safety Engineers Selection Panel.
Notes
1. Only applicants who meet the above requirements will be selected by SCDF to attend an
interview with the Registered Fire Safety Engineers Selection Panel. Successful applicants
who have been shortlisted by the Panel will then be required to attend a briefing conducted
by SCDF, after which they will be registered as Fire Safety Engineers.
2. SCDF reserves the right to accept or reject the applicant for registration as a Fire Safety
Engineer.
