This information includes recall notices relating to child safety (toys and / or
products which may affect children in your care). These newsletters will be
sent out regularly and are intended to alert your services to the numerous
recalls which occur. Please check the website for further recall notices relating
to food/ drinks and products.

Four million Bumbo Baby Seats recalled after two dozen reports of skull
fractures in infants




Second wave of recalls due to safety risks
The South African company behind Bumbo Baby Seats is recalling nearly four
million seats in response to scores of reported infant injuries including two
dozen cases of skull fractures.
In a second blow for the product, the Consumer Product Safety Commission
has found that babies can too easily wiggle out of the floor seats leaving
themselves vulnerable to injury.
The news follows a previous warning that the seats were dangerous if placed
on raised surfaces.
About 1 million of the moulded foam seats were recalled in October 2007 for
additional warning labels against placing the Bumbo seats on tables or kitchen
counters.
Since the first recall, CPSC and Bumbo International of South Africa have
learned of at least 50 incidents in which babies fell from Bumbo seats while
they were being used on raised surfaces.
CPSC says another 34 babies fell from the seats while they were being used
on the floor or at an unknown elevation. In all, there were 21 reports of skull
fractures to infants.
Consumers are asked to stop using the seats and contact Bumbo for a free
repair kit that includes a restraint belt and instructions on how to safely use
the seat.

In a statement, the company said it was adding a restraint belt to enhance the
safety of children using the Bumbo seat.

‘The restraint belt will help prevent children from getting out of or falling from
the seat when it is used as intended: on the floor with adult supervision and
never on raised surfaces,’ said the statement. ‘The health and safety of
children using the Bumbo Baby Seat are our top priorities.’
The Bumbo floor seats were sold at Babies R Us, Target, Walmart and other
retailers nationwide from August 2003 through August 2012.
Asda Little Angels Cherry Soothers - recall

As a precaution we’ve recalled all our 2-packs of Little Angels Cherry
Soothers bought since October 2012.
The soothers affected are sold in double packs of blue and pink and have a
barcode of 0505244962706. No other Asda Little Angels soothers/dummies
are affected.
They have been withdrawn from sale and are being recalled from sale due to
the possible risk of choking following a complaint from a customer that the
outer casing became detached from the main soother.
If you have bought the Little Angels Cherry Soother 2-pack, please dispose of
it or take it back to your local Asda for a full refund. No receipt is necessary.

Miffy Bean Rattle - recall

We have discovered a potential quality problem with the above Miffy
Bean Rattle, the tail may become detached after a period of use, which
could pose a choking hazard.
Please note this potential issue affects only this batch code, which amounts to
a total of 2,556 items sold in the UK. The items affected were available to
purchase from retailers from February 2012.
We therefore are asking anyone who has purchased this item to check the
batch code as noted above. The batch code can be found printed on the
small label next to the sew in label of the product, (please see photo below),
or printed on the swing ticket above the barcode.

Please check your Beko 6kg & 7kg Condenser Tumble Dryer now
Over the last few weeks Beko has been made aware of a small number of
incidents involving our 6kg & 7kg Condenser Tumble Dryers manufactured
between May 2012 and October 2012, where an electrical component has
failed and overheated, leading to a potential risk of fire.
We believe that the risk of failure is low but, as a responsible manufacturer,
we have decided to initiate a voluntary corrective action program as a
precautionary measure.
These products were independently tested before being placed on the market
and meet all UK and European safety standards. Nevertheless, we take the

safety of our products very seriously and would like to offer a free of charge
in-home modification to remove any potential risk with this component.
We urge you to contact us immediately about this important issue.
We are seeking to contact owners of Beko 6kg & 7kg Condenser Tumble
Dryers purchased between May and October 2012 to carry out a free of
charge modification. We urge anyone who believes they have an
affected model to follow the steps outlined below as a precautionary
measure.
What you need to do:
Check the model number and serial number of your 6kg & 7kg Condenser
Tumble Dryer. The serial number is on the rating plate (see below) and is 10
digits long. The first 2 digits of the serial number give the year of production
and the last 2 digits give the month of production. All affected products were
manufactured between May and October 2012. Please contact us if your
model and serial number matches those outlined below.
Your safety is our priority, so if you own an affected product, please
stop using it immediately and disconnect it from the wall socket as a
precaution.

Bugaboo Cameleon and Donkey Carry Handles - safety notice
The following notice has been issued by the retailer:
We have learned from customer reports that under certain conditions, the
white button on the carry handle may pop out when the Bugaboo Cameleon
or Bugaboo Donkey bassinet/pram body is resting on the ground or is placed
on an unstable surface. If the white button pops out, the carry handle may
detach on one side.
An external investigation of these reports confirms that the safety risk is low,
and no injuries have been reported. While the Bugaboo Cameleon and the
Bugaboo Donkey continue to comply with all external regulatory and safety
standards, we have improved the carry handle design. We are making this
improved carry handle available, along with information about assembly and
use, at no cost to customers with a Bugaboo Cameleon or a Bugaboo
Donkey.

The Bugaboo Cameleon carry handle is available now. We expect delivery to
be 2 weeks from the moment of registration, subject to stock availability. The
new carry handle for the Bugaboo Donkey will become available from the end
of February 2013 onwards. Bugaboo will follow up with Bugaboo Donkey
owners when the new handle becomes available. Until customers receive the
new and improved carry handle, they should remove their current carry handle
from the pushchair. Bugaboo advises our customers to use the pushchair's
harness at all times when going out and about with your child and to make
sure the straps are properly secured.
The Bugaboo Cameleon3 (launched September 2012) is equipped with a
carry handle that isn’t affected.

(28/1/13) we have been advised that the facility where the barley sachets are
packed also handles nuts, therefore we have recognised there is a risk of
cross contamination.
Unless you suffer from a nut allergy, this poses absolutely no potential risk to
you whatsoever, therefore carry on enjoying your Scotty Brand Scotch Broth
Mix.
If you have a nut allergy and have purchased packs with a use by date of
between the 29th January to the 3rd of February, please be aware of the
possibility of nut contamination.
What you should do:
Customers should not consume this product and return to store for a full
refund.
