This workshop will help you create strong answers to basic and tough interview questions. We will also address how to answer behavior-based interview questions in a way that helps the employer project YOU into the job! Learn how to close an interview in a professional and enthusiastic way that will make YOU stand out from the crowd. Overcoming A Challenging Work History – If your background has some bumps in the road like large lapses in employment, a spotty job record, terminations or a criminal history, attend this workshop to learn how to effectively present yourself to a potential employer and increase your chances of employment. In this workshop we will discuss tools and government programs that will make a challenging employment history appear less risky to a potential employer. Resume Writing – Staff available to assist you in creating, editing and perfecting your resume Basic Computers Skills – Learn the basics of computer operation. Participants will have to pre-register for this workshop. Improve Your Reading & Writing Skills – Read job ads and employment. Write cover and “thank you” letters, fill out applications/employment paperwork. PASS (ADVOCAP)Personalized Case Management If you're looking to make positive changes in your life but you're not sure where to start the People Achieving Self- Sufficiency (PASS) program is for you! This voluntary program is designed for participants who are experiencing multiple barriers (housing, transportation, employment, healthcare, childcare) to learn the skills and community resources available to gain economic self-sufficiency. “Where Do I go From Here?” This workshop will encourage Job Seekers to consider their skills and interests, and to explore career direction. Career Counselor, Dawn Kohn, will be demonstrating several skills/interests assessments and helpful resource websites. “Breaking Through” This workshop will assist Job Seekers in identifying and conquering barriers to becoming gainfully employed. Career Counselor, Dawn Kohn, will facilitate a group discussion regarding unemployment experiences and offer techniques to overcome barriers. Participants will develop a career action plan to set their goals in motion. Ability Profiler Ability Profiler helps Job Seekers identify their strengths and understand how their aptitudes and abilities match up with the requirements for careers that interest them. Ability Profiler is a proctored exam offered at the Job Center.
