This unit standard is for people who supervise maintenance and operations in water reticulation, and people who work in specialist water reticulation activities. Primary Industry Training Organisation SSB Code 101558 New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA registered unit standard 22102 version 3 Page 2 of 3 Evidence requirements 1.1 Personal protective equipment for water and drainage construction is identified and described in accordance with organisational procedures. 1.2 Hazards are identified and managed in accordance with the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and organisational procedures. 1.3 Trench shoring requirements are identified and described in accordance with contract drawings. Range 1.4 trench depth, trench alignment, ground condition, material type. Traffic control requirements are identified and described in accordance with Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management. Outcome 2 Demonstrate knowledge of backflow prevention in water reticulation. Evidence requirements 2.1 Backflow is described in terms of the implications for localised contamination of drinking-water supplies, and for compliance with the Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand 2005 (Revised 2008). 2.2 Backflow prevention devices are described in terms of their operation, and methods of testing for satisfactory operation. Range 2.3 evidence is required for at least two backflow prevention devices. Backflow prevention techniques are described in terms of their suitability for consumer situations. Range air gap, reduced pressure zone (RPZ), double check valve.
