Huntly Cultural Fund Guidelines
Introduction
The Huntly Cultural Fund has been made possible through Huntly being recognised as the
most creative place in Scotland for its size in Creative Scotland’s 2013 Creative Place
Awards (www.creativescotland.com/explore/projects/creative-place-awards). These awards
are also supported by the National Lottery and The Herald.
The aim of the Huntly Cultural Fund is to help local groups and individuals make Huntly and
district an even better place to live, work and visit by showcasing the creative talents of the
area and encouraging even more creative activities. The fund has been designed
specifically to support cultural activities by local organisations and individuals which are
linked to the Year of Natural Scotland 2013 (www.visitscotland.com/about/naturegeography/year-of-natural-scotland/) and the Year of Homecoming 2014
(www.visitscotland.com/see-do/homecoming-scotland-2014). Projects that leave a legacy
beyond this period will be particularly welcomed.
The fund is managed by Huntly Development Trust with the support of Deveron Arts and
Huntly & District Tourism Action Group.
Who can apply?
The Huntly Cultural Fund is open to all organisations and individuals wishing to undertake a
project in Huntly or the wider AB54 postcode area meeting the criteria listed below.
Criteria
The Huntly Cultural Fund aims to support projects that:

encourage ambitions for Huntly & district as a creative place for locals & visitors

tie in with the Year of Natural Scotland 2013 and/or Homecoming Scotland 2014

can be delivered by 31st December 2014 at the latest

leave a legacy beyond these years

promote Huntly as a creative place

promote partnership working in and around Huntly
Funding available

The total value of the Huntly Cultural Fund is £40,000. Whilst there is no fixed
maximum or minimum amount that applicants must apply for, awards are likely to be
5
in the region of £1,000 per project. This means that a large number of organisations
and individuals should benefit from the fund.

While matching funding is not a requirement, you may want to use the Huntly
Cultural Fund to lever in additional funding to help give your project more impact. If
so, please tell us.
Reporting
We aim to compile a record of the projects supported by the Huntly Cultural Fund so that:

we can showcase the activities supported by the fund

in years to come we have something to look back on to remind us of the fund and

to show our funders what has been achieved through their support.
To that end, successful applicants are required to provide a short report with appropriate
supporting material. We will provide a template for the brief report to successful applicants.
Please think about this from the start of your project so that you capture e.g. images at
events.
We do not require you to provide us with evidence of how you have spent any money
awarded to you or your organisation but we do ask you to keep a record of it (e.g. receipts)
so that if we are asked to account for the funds in future we can ask you for that evidence.

Application deadline
The deadline for receipt of completed applications is 5pm on Monday 29th April 2013.
Decision-making
All eligible applications received will be put forward to a small panel of local representatives
who will decide on allocation of the funds. Applicants will be informed in writing of the
outcome of the panel decision. If not all the funds are allocated in the first round the panel
may open another call for applications or agree to allocate the funds in another way. The
decision of the panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Good luck with your application!
