I feel privileged to present Activity Report of IMA AMS. We thank our National President Dr. B. Jitendra
Patel for extending his encouragement and co-operation, my sincere thanks to Hon. Secretary General Dr. Narendra
Saini, Dr. S. K. Raj, National Chairman of IMA AMS H.Qrs, Dr. Arul Rhaj & Dr. Ravi Wankhedkar National Coordinators and Dr. N. Appa Rao Chairman National Leader Forum for their valuable suggestions, timely
encouragement which is an additional support for me for the Activities of our IMA AMS.
Membership: Currently there are 18 State Chapters with 146 Branch Chapters of AMS with Membership of
10849 as on 31st May 2014.

Increasing of Membership:
All The Members are requested to promote membership drive as AMS Life Membership fee is reduced to Rs. 500/(for the period of one year only, shall be effective from 1 st July 2013 to 30th June 2014). The details of Membership
fee Fellowship fee is as under.

Fellowship Fee Rs. 5000/- (Remain same)
Professorship Fee Rs. 10000/- (Minimum 25 years experience in Medical Profession)

10849 to 12,000 by 31st December 2014. With the support of all the seniors of AMS executive I strongly propose to
increase the membership at least 12 thousand by the end of 2014. For this I request each one of you to propagate
this slogan. Each AMS member will enroll 3 new members in turn each of these 3 new members will bring in three
members again. This will certainly going to strengthen AMS.
Non enrollment of Members in IMA AMS during the years 2009-2014:
Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Manipur, Tripura. I appeal and request the Presidents and Secretaries
of the said IMA State Branches to increase membership from 10849 to 12,000 by 31st December 2014.
Applications pending for want of details are 140. Secretaries of all the concerned State Chapters have been
reminded with a request to furnish the information called for.

1. IMA Academy of Medical Specialities H.Qrs & AMS Hyderabad City Branch organized “Free Pap Smear
Screening Camp” on 12th Feb 14 at Race Club, Hyderabad. 100 Pap smears were taken on the occasion of
World Cancer day.
2. IMA AMS Chennai Poonamalle High Road Branch Chapter conducted CME Programme on Psychosomatic
Medicine – The Integrative Approach A Clinical Symposium” on 5th January 2014.
3. IMA AMS Kozhikode Branch Chapter conducted CME on “Plastic Surgery- Is it vanity surgery” on 24th
January 2014.
4. IMA AMS Kozhikode Branch Chapter conducted CME on topic -“Technological Advances in Field of
Otolaryngology” on 21st Feb 2014.
5. IMA AMS Kozhikode Branch Chapter conducted CME on “Observed ‘World Sleep Day’. Topic – topic
‘Practical approach to common Sleep Problems’ on 14th March 2014.

Cancer” on 8th March 2014.

“Preventable Diseases” on 10th March 2014.

10. IMA AMS Coimbatore Branch conducted CME Programme on “World Sleep Day” on 20th March 2014.

ADVISES TO PRACTITIONERS” on 30th March 2014 at IMA Hall, Vijayawada.

Transplantation” and “Living Donor Liver Transplant” on 23rd May 2014.
19. IMA AMS Kozhikode Branch Chapter conducted “Observation of World Schizophrenia Day” on 24th May
2014.
20. IMA AMS AP State Chapter conducted CME Programme on Targetted Therapies In Breast Cancer on 4th
June -2014.
Workshops:
IMA AMS Headquarters proposes to organize workshops on various topics of medical interest in accordance with
the needs of the hour like Energy Conservation, De Addiction, Sudden Cardiac Death, Heart Failure, Interpretation
of Arrhythmias, Interpretation Angiography, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Preventive Cardiology, Nephrology and
Mental Health in State and Branches workshops.
It has been decided to conduct Academic Programmes under the guidance of IMA AMS State and Branch Chapters.
It is mandatory for the State and Branch Chapters to involve all the Office Bearers of IMA AMS Hqrs and also
State and Central Office Bearers informing about the Academic activity and inviting them to Academic
Programmes.
It is proposed to encourage State Chapters that will come forward to conduct AMS Courses. They will be asked to
forward the list of Courses they can conduct. On receipt, IMA AMS Hqrs will inform the Course fee and the details
of each Course to that State Chapter.
Following is the list of AMS Courses.
a. 1. Infertility, 2. Fluorescein Angiography, 3. Laser Photocoagulation in Retinal, 4. Excismer, Laser & Lasik
Surgery, 5. Phacoemulsification, 6. Training in Laparoscopic Surgery, Noninvasive Cardiology,
Echocardiography, TMT, etc., Critical Care in Cardiology, Advance Microear Surgery, 7. Functional
Endoscopic Sinus, 8. Laser in ENT, 9. Tracho-Bronchial. Rhinoplasty Joint
Replacement, 10. Orthoscopic, 11. Spine Surgery.
These courses are recognized by the Academy 40% of the fee will be given to the concerned Hospital.
b. IMA AMS Endoscopy Hands on Experience Course has completed 5 sessions so far and 110 patients were
examined in this course till date and two exams also over. 6th Session will held at Erode on 04.09.2011.
c. AMS Maharashtra Dhule Chapter is shortly going to start Paramedical Courses
d. Kerala State Chapter has come forward to conduct AMS Courses. Kerala State Chapter has agreed to
conduct AMS course on Infertility. Details are awaited. In this regard they have published book on
“Modern Infertility Management”. We appreciate this and other State Chapters to follow.
Activities:
It was decided to conduct Certificate Courses:
1. Basic GI Endoscopy Hands on Experience
2. Clinical Psychiatry from AMS H.Qrs, Hyderabad.
3. Laparoscopy from AMS H.Qrs, Hyderabad.
Basic GI Endoscopy Hands on Experience Course:
IMA AMS is started the Basic Upper GI Endoscopy Course on 13th October 2013 at IMA Building, Hyderabad
in Collaboration with National Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad.
The Objective is to update the skills of practitioners for better patient care. This is a unique opportunity for all the
practitioners. 2nd Batch will be started in 1st or 2nd week of July 2014.
Course details:
Duration four months from 01-10-2013- 8 sessions on 1st two
Sundays every month.
Course Fees:
Rs. 30,000/- + Service Tax Rs. 3,500/-

1st Batch of Endoscopy 10 students are joined and Theory Examination & Viva conducted on 23-03-2014.
Clinical Psychiatry Course:
IMA AMS AP State Chapter will be started in 1st or 2nd week of July 2014 at AMS H.Qrs, Hyderabad
Clinical Psychiatry Course Teaching faculty will be from Institute of Mental Health/OMC, Gandhi
Medical College, Medicity Medical College, Asha Hospital, Chetna Hospital, Hyderabad.
Course details:
Duration six months starting from 01-01-2014- 60 classes
Course Fees:
Rs. 20,000/- + Service Tax Rs. 2,500/-
Laparoscopy Course:
IMA AMS AP State Chapter Starting of the Course – Basic Laparoscopy training for the General Surgeons and
Gynaecologists will be started in 1st or 2nd week of July 2014 at AMS H.Qrs, Hyderabad and as well at Erode.
Course details:
Duration six months from 01-06-2014-6 sessions on 1st / 2nd Sunday every
month
Course Fees:
Rs. 30,000/- + Service Tax Rs. 3,500/-

AMS Fellowship & Professorship:
There is a tremendous response from all over the country we received 73 applications for Fellowship
(FIAMS) and 17 Professorship applications for the AMSCON-2014 convocation to be held at Kolkata.
Payment of Share of Life Membership and Fellowship Fees:
We have already paid share of Life Membership fee for the half year ending and Fellowship fee for the year 2013
to the concerned State/Branch Chapters.
Payment of the share of Life Membership fee for the half year ending 31st March 2014 will be made to the
concerned State/Branch Chapters.
Proposals:
1. New Life member is eligible to become a fellow in the same year of convocation conducted by IMA AMS
H.Qrs.
2. A minimum number of 20 members are required to form a new AMS Branch Chapter.
3. A copy of IMA AMS Annals must be handed over to Governing Council members every year.
4. Any Certificate Fellowship Course conducted by State Branches should obtain permission from the H.Qrs
prior to start the Certificate Course. And the Certificates issued at the end of the course should be duely
signed by the office bearers of IMA AMS H.Qrs.
5. If the Member is not attending the convocation, Certificates can be issued after next year convocation only.
6. As per the AMS H.Qrs rules State Branches conducting Certificate Courses should share 40% of the
amount collected towards the Certificate course fee from the member will go to the IMA AMS H.Qrs. The
rest 60% of the amount only will go to the respective State Branches who are conducting the Courses.
7. AMS H.Qrs looking forward to start an oration to be delivered at the time of AMSCON.
8. Members aspiring to become fellows of AMS are requested to attend the convocation of AMSCON to
receive their Fellowship Certificates in person without fail. Attendance at convocation is mandatory for all.
Academic Programmes:
 Mandatory for the State and Branch Chapters to involve all the Office Bearers of IMA AMS Hqrs.
 Last year CME Programmes have been conducted on huge scale by State/Branch Chapters of Tamil Nadu,
Maharashtra, Orissa, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh I hope this year also all the State Chapters
participate in conducting CMEs in their Branch/State Chapters under intimation to me.

A new AMS Book of Records is initiated and new records are to be announced at AMSCON-2014.
IMA AMS Endoscopy Course Tamil Nadu State Chapter Report:
AMS of IMA TNSB has been conducting Endoscopy Hands on Training Course, the first of its kind in
AMS Platform which has received appreciations from colleagues across the country and also abroad. It is a very
comprehensive 8 days course spread on 8 Sundays with examinations, Logbook writing, MCQ and Viva Voice.
Gold medal is also awarded for the best performing candidate.

We have started an Online Course on 1) Surgical Emergency Trauma Care for the Family Practitioners & 2) Initial
Care of Paediatric Emergencies and members are slowly joining the course.
Appeal to all Chairmen and Secretaries of IMA State Branches:
It is observed from the enrollment of IMA AMS Membership during the last two years, most of the State
Chapters have not enrolled even a single IMA Member to IMA AMS. In this connection I appeal and request all the
Chairmen and Secretaries of IMA State Branches to cooperate in enrolling more members to IMA AMS fold. I
further request them to send the postal and email address together with mobile/land line phone numbers of the
Chairman and Secretary of their IMA AMS State Chapter. This will enable us to contact them easily for IMA AMS
Membership drive and IMA AMS activities.
