Protein Production Storyboard Name ______________________________________ Per ___ Biology Standard 1E: Students will know the role of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus in the secretion of proteins. Objective: Using my knowledge of the ER and Golgi Apparatus, I can create a storyboard/comic strip to show the steps of Protein Production. Instructions: Use 6 frames to tell the story of protein being created, modified, packaged, and secreted by the ER and Golgi apparatus. Every frame must show the what is being describe below, have a caption that uses the key words, and have speech bubbles for the “characters.” Frame 1: Show DNA in the nucleus of the cell. (Use the key words: DNA and nucleus) Frame 2: Show DNA making RNA, and the RNA leaving the nucleus. (Use the key words: DNA, RNA, and nucleus) Frame 3: Show the RNA travelling to the ER, where it is translated into a protein. (Use the key words: RNA, ER and protein) Frame 4: Show the ER modifying the protein, packaging it in a transport vesicle, and sending it to the Golgi apparatus (Use the key words: ER, protein, modify, package, transport vesicle, and Golgi apparatus) Frame 5: Show the Golgi apparatus making last modifications to the protein, then sending it in a transport vesicle to the cell membrane. (Use the key words: Golgi apparatus, modify, transport vesicle, and cell membrane) Frame 6: Show transport vesicle reaching the cell membrane and releasing the protein to the outside of the cell. (Use the key words: transport vesicle, cell membrane, and release) 1 2 Caption: (Use the key words: DNA and nucleus) Caption: (Use the key words: DNA, RNA, and nucleus) 3 4 Caption: (Use the key words: RNA, ER and protein) Caption: (Use the key words: ER, protein, modify, package, transport vesicle, and Golgi apparatus) 5 6 Caption: (Use the key words: Golgi apparatus, modify, Caption: (Use the key words: transport vesicle, cell transport vesicle, and cell membrane) membrane, and release)
