National Center for Meteorology and Seismology – United Arab Emirates Meteorological Observer The National Center for Meteorology and Seismology of the United Arab Emirates is looking for qualified applicants to fill several Meteorological Observer positions within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The position: The meteorological observer will undertake hourly or half hourly meteorological observations at a selection of airports across the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The meteorological observer will work a rotating shift roster. The meteorological observer will communicate with end users with respect to meteorological observations and or flight documentation. The successful applicants will undertake the following tasks: Be responsible for the undertaking of surface and/or upper air meteorological observations. Be responsible for communicating with other meteorological observation departments and sites for the retrieval and distribution of meteorological observations. The Meteorological Observer will, when designated or required, prepare meteorological flight documentation for customers and operators. The Meteorological Observer will assist with any other task, as defined by a Meteorological Forecaster or senior Aviation Meteorology Staff member to ensure the efficient operation of the meteorological department. The Meteorological Observer will be responsible for the quality assurance of products disseminated from the department. The Meteorological Observer may be responsible for the dissemination of non-standard/nonautomated products produced at the meteorological office. The Meteorological Observer will be responsible for the maintenance of all meteorological records under his/her supervision. The meteorological observer will be responsible to communicate, in a clear and concise manner, products available at his office. Qualifications: The meteorological observer must have minimum High Secondary School certificate. The meteorological observer must have certified training meeting the requirements of WMO Doc 258 BIP MT. The meteorological observer must have at least 4 years of operational experience, preferably in a National Weather Service Environment.
