We use SOME in positive sentences. You can use it with countable and uncountable plural nouns. Some in Catalan is alguns/algunes.

EXAMPLES:

ANY:

We use ANY in negative and interrogative sentences. You can use it with countable and uncountable plural nouns. Any in Catalan is cap/gens/alguns/algunes(pregunta).

EXAMPLES:

I haven’t got any biscuits in my bag. (countable) (negative)

There isn’t any milk in the fridge. (uncountable) (negative)

Have you got any pets ? (countable) (interrogative)

Is there any milk on the table? (uncountable) (interrogative)

A/AN

We use A/AN in positive, negative and interrogative sentences. You can use it with countable singular nouns. A/AN in Catalan is un/una.

We use A when the next noun starts with consonant.

We use AN when the next noun starts with a vowel.

EXAMPLES:

I’m a boy.

She’s got an orange in his bag.

I haven’t got a dog

We use A LOT OF in positive sentences. You can use it with countable and uncountable plural nouns. A lot of in Catalan is molts/molt.
