Hi Big Things on the Beach has recently commissioned artist Michael Pinsky to create an artwork for Portobello Swim Centre, launching at an event on Sat 27 th March 2010. He is proposing an animated moving image artwork for projection onto the water of the Portobello Swim Centre, using footage shot in collaboration with users of the swim centre. Michael is visiting Portobello week 15th Feb in order to get the footage required for animation. None of the footage will be close-up faces of the swimmers, but will be shot from the balconies of the pool and then manipulated and animated on computer. Below is a tear-off slip for permissions – please fill this in and give it to the swimming pool staff on the desk before entering the pool. Many thanks, Susan Grant Big Things on the Beach Big Things on the Beach is a public arts trust formed by local people in 2003. Since 2004 we have commissioned artists to create several artworks in the area; we have trained ourselves and others in the processes of commissioning public artworks and we have promoted collaboration between artists and local people through the Garden Gallery project.
