Inner Mongolia Normal University
Inner Mongolia Normal University was set up in 1952, which is one
of the key universities in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The
university is famous for its bilingual teaching, since most courses are
taught by both Mongolian and Chinese. The University has a team of
excellent faculty and staff, equipped with advanced facilities and superior
teaching conditions. It has 32 colleges, one independent college, and
three teaching and researching centers. There are 68 programs running in
the university, which cover nine disciplines. The University offers 2
doctoral programs (including History of Science and Psychology), 112
postgraduate programs and six specialized postgraduate programs. There
are 1430 full-time teachers and almost 40,000 students, including over
28000 full-time undergraduates, over 3700 postgraduates and11016
registered adult students.
Inner Mongolia Normal University began to enroll international
students in 1980s. Thanks to the fast development in recent years, the
University has trained more than 2000 international students in total.
Programs for oversea students ranging from language studies to the
combination of advanced studies and diploma education (undergraduates
and postgraduates). At present, there are more than 400 international
students studying in the International Exchange College, Inner Mongolia
Normal University. Inner Mongolia Normal University has always put
weight on open up policy and international collaborative activities. Up
to now, we have established cooperative relationship with famous
universities, colleges and research institutes in many countries, such as,
the United States, U.K, Germany, France, Russia, Holland, Canada,
Australia, Japan, Korea, Mongolia and Malaysia.
Brief Introduction to Research Activity for Graduate Program
 Novel catalysts and heterogeneous catalysis: Novel catalysts are
prepared using rare earth and natural clay as materials, and their
catalytic behavior for selective conversion natural gas and coal bed
gas (for example, selective oxidation of methane to methanol, DME,
oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane and propane to ethene and
propene respectively.) are investigated. For environmental protection,
the catalysts are used in the oxidation of carbon oxide in room under
room temperatures, the purification of volatile organic compounds in
air and automobile exhaust, as well as the synthesis of fine chemicals
from aromatics.
 Inorganic nano-materials and their application in catalysis:
Inorganic functional nano-materials are prepared and characterized.
Their
applications
in
decoloration,
adsorption,
catalysis,
photo-catalysis are investigated.

History of Science and Technology
(Postgraduate program & doctoral program)
The research in History of Science and Technology of Inner Mongolia Normal
University can be traced back in 1956, with the accumulation for half a century. In
1983, the Scientific History Research Institute was approved by the People’s
Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and was set up in the same
year. In 2001, the institute developed into Department of Scientific History and
Management ( 2006 the “department” renamed it as college ).
The college has such subdivisions as the Research Institute of Scientific History,
the Research Institute of Northern Nationalities Traditional Science and Technology,
the Research Institute of Sino-Korea History of Science and Technology. Besides the
above institutes, there is the Exhibition Room for both the calculating tools and
ancient astronomical instruments, showing our combined features of exhibiting,
studying and learning. There is a school library, with considerable large collection of
academic books, professional resources in ancient history of science and technology.
The faculty of the college is a dynamic research team, with the characteristics
of international view, reasonable structure, powerful basis, good cooperation and
sustainable development. As for the disciplinary counterpart, a wide range of
exchange has been established both home and abroad, especially the frequent
academic exchanges with several research institutes, which makes it the favorable
environment for the scientific research and teaching, for disciplinary construction
and development, active innovation and greater progress. In this case, the college
has been one of most influential institutions at home and abroad.
The History of Science and Technology was among the first list of the key
disciplines in Inner Mongolia in 1986, in 2007 it was confirmed as the first-class key
discipline. The main research fields include history of mathematics, history of
science and technology of Chinese minorities, history of astronomy, history of
physics and technology, history of scientific and technological exchange at home and
abroad, history of science and technology in Qing Dynasty, etc. Since 1978, the
institute began to enroll and grant Master degree candidates, and doctoral
candidates in 2007.
The professors in this discipline are Professor Luo Jian-jin, Professor Guo
Shi-rong, Professor Feng Li-sheng and Professor Dai Chin.
Professor Luo Jian-jin’s research specializes in the history of mathematics, the
history of Combination, the History of Bamboo Books, the history of science and
technology in Qing Dynasty, and the history of environmental science and
technology.
Professor Guo Shi-rong’s special research interests are in the history of Chinese
mathematics, the history of Korean mathematics, the exchange history of Chinese
and foreign science and technology, history of science and technology of ethnic
minorities in China, the history of science and technology in Qing Dynasty.
Professor Feng Li-sheng particularly conducts his research in the history of
mathematics, the history of physics and technology, the history of Japanese science
and technology and the history of Chinese and foreign technology exchange.
Professor Dai Chin focuses on his research in mathematical philosophy,
mathematical education and history of mathematics, etc.
Development and Education Psychology
(including a doctoral program in Psychology )
Development and Education Psychology is the key discipline in Inner
Mongolia Autonomous Region. The program was approved to grant MA in 1985,
which was within the first group granted counterparts of master degree in
psychology in China. In 2004, it was confirmed to be the priority disciplinary
area in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In recent years, the disciplinary has
made great achievements, with rich research fruits in the fields, and
achievements have been made in the relevant fields. In 2003, the MA program in
applied psychology was granted. In 2006, the MA program in psychology was
granted the fundamental psychology and psychological first-class disciplinary
area during the tenth examining and verifying in the State Degree Council. There
are three distinctive research areas in disciplinary field: the study of
psychological health and psychology education, the study of cross-cultural
developmental psychology and the study of disciplinary psychology.
There are 20 full-time psychology researchers, among whom there are 11
professors, 6 associate professors and 3 lecturers, 8 with Ph.D. and 12 with MA,
including one supervisor of doctoral degree candidates., 10 supervisors of master
degree candidates,. In the past five years, the publications are productive, about
260 papers have been published in various academic journals, 23 academic
books have been published and 17 textbooks have been published. Meanwhile,
over 40 research projects have been granted by different funds as the National
Natural Science Fund, National Philosophy and Social Science Fund, and Inner
Mongolia Autonomous Region Philosophy Planning Projects, etc. More than 30
prizes have been awarded such as The Third Prize in Progress of Science and
Technology by National Educational Ministry; The First Prize of Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region “Five Ones Project”; The First Prize of Philosophy and
Social Science Outstanding Award; and The First Prize of Teaching
Achievements in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
During the past five years, nearly ¥2,600,000 RMB were invested at several
times for construction and renovation of the psychology labs and research
institutes. In the last few years, 7 labs and Psychological Education Institute have
been set up, including the lab of fundamental psychology, the lab of brain waves
and the relevant electric spots, the lab of eye-moving psychology, the lab of web
psychology,
children’s behavior observation lab, and the lab of psychological
measures and consultation, which paves the way for scientific research and talent
fostering and training. In 2007, the lab of psychology has been ascertained as the
key lab in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Psychology Education
Research Center has been ascertained as one of the first base of humanities and
social science in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the accreditation of
national psychological consultation (Inner Mongolia branch center). Accordingly,
the scientific research on psychology, talent-fostering and service to the society
have been opened up to all over Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Since 2001, the discipline of psychology has an active communication,
exchange and cooperation with other research centers at home and abroad,
including the cooperation with the Psychological Research Institute of the
National Academy of Social Sciences for doctoral-fostering, with Hong Kong
City University for postgraduate-fostering, with Education University of
Mongolia and the Buryat State University in Russia for scientific research
cooperation, so as to keep on our research, to consolidate and broaden the
research fields, and better adapt to the needs of society and people, to go with the
times.
Professor Chen Zhong-yong, male, Mongolian, born in March of 1953, in
Chifeng of Inner Mongolia,. He is professor in Inner Mongolia Normal
University, and the Party secretary in chief in the university as well. He
concurrently works as the a director of postgraduate disciplinary counterpart in
developmental and educational psychology, supervisor of master degree
candidates in major of psychology, a supervisor of doctoral degree candidates of
the major of developmental and educational psychology in research institute of
China Academy, a council member of China Psychology Society, a member of
the major of psychological measures in China Psychology Society, a member of
ISSBD, a member of ethnic minority
education professional group in the
National Education Science and Technology Planning Leaders Office, the
council head of Inner Mongolia Psychology Society. He was awarded one of the
national prominent advanced persons, the allowance awarder of State Council
Special Contributor, a middle-aged professional with outstanding achievements
in Inner Mongolia, one of the owners of Zeng Xianzi Education Award.
In Inner Mongolia, he is the first psychologist who offered to open such
courses as the educational and psychological statistics, psychological measures,
evaluation of education and psychology and other new and fresh disciplines. He
is also the pioneer and founder of Mongolian measure psychology. Moreover, as
a leading person he undertook the research project on psychological education
in “the Ninth five-year Project” in national educational science and technology,
another research project titled “Cross-cultural Comparative Study on Cognitive
Activities among Chinese Ethnic Minority Groups”, and the research project
with the national natural science fund “Cross-cultural Study on Psychological
Health Condition and Defense Mechanism of the College Students in the West of
China”. He is the first person who put forward the concept of psychological
education in Chin, and has been working a system study on it.
His book Study on Psychological Education was awarded the first prize in the
Eighth Philosophy and Social Science Excellent Achievement in Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region. Another of his book Cross-cultural Study on Chinese
Multi-ethnical Cognitive Activities was in the third place in Education Ministry Science
and Technology Progress Awards, the research project under the name of
“Constructing Academic & Teaching to Psychology Major in Bilingual Teaching of
Mongolian-Chinese” won him the first prize of teaching achievement in Inner
Mongolia Higher Education. Psychology (major) is the brand course in Inner
Mongolia, and the course of educational psychology is the excellent one in Inner
Mongolia Autonomous Region. At present, he is undertaking the leading research
project on “International Cooperative Study on the Development of Mongolian
Teenagers and Psychological Characteristics”.
Professor Chen Zhong-yong has made significant academic contribution in the
field of psychology. Most of his works, including hundreds of his papers, his over 10
books & textbooks, have had the fundamental meaning in the history of Mongolian
education, and science and technology as well. His publications have contributed
much to the development and thriving of Mongolian education, science and
technology, talents-training as well.
Professor Chi Shisan (Dalun-gurbu), male, Mongolian, born in 1963, in
Korchin Zhun-huite Hushu of Inner Mongolia. He received his master degree in
1990, and has been teaching in Inner Mongolia Normal University ever since. In
1997, he was promoted to be an associate professor, and in 2003 he got promotion as
a professor in psychology. Concurrently, he is the Party secretary of Education
Science College, supervisor of MA in psychology, the head of the MA Program in
applied psychology, a member of China Psychology Society, a standing council
member of Psychology Society in Inner Mongolia. He teaches mainly the courses as
General Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Educational Psychology. He
specializes in psychological development of ethnical children and youth. He
undertook and has participated in 5 research projects on the national or provincial
levels. His publications include 15 books or textbooks, and about 20 papers. He
received 8 teaching awards either from the province or from the university, 4
scientific research awards from university or Education Ministry of Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region. He participated in 5 conferences, domestic or international.
Mongolian Language and Literature
The discipline of the ethnic minority language and literature in China was
established in 1952 in Inner Mongolia Normal University, the earliest one
founded in China. The program was approved to grant MA in 1981, it was one of
the first granted programs in China to admit and grant master degree
candidates in the ethnic minority’s language and literature. In 1986, it is
ascertained as the priority disciplinary field in Inner Mongolia Autonomous
Region. In the past 50 years, tremendous progress has made in the field of
Chinese minority language and literature. We have accumulated outstanding
academic research achievements in the fields. Our research is among the top of
the international Mongolian studies,
and is regarded as one of the three bases
of Mongolia studies in China.
In this area, there are 32 full-time researchers, among whom there are 14
professors, 9 associate professors and 9 lecturers, including 10 Ph.D. and 19 MA.
Since 2000,16 academic books, about 534 papers have been published in various
academic journals. Meanwhile, the researchers have made great achievements in
this area, 16 research projects were granted, including 4 projects funded by
National Natural Science and National Social Science, and 5 projects funded by
the nation or the National Education Ministry. In the recent 5 years, more than
12 research prizes on the provincial were awarded, such as 3 First Prizes, 5
Second Prizes.

The main research areas in the field are:
ancient Mongolian literature, the
theory of ancient Mongolian language, Mongolian ancient documents, the
modern Mongolian, theoretical and applied linguistics. The discipline field has
formed its unique advantages and features. Many of our creative and impressive
research achievements have gained high prestige in the field both at home and
broad.
Professor Chinggeltu, male, born in December of 1964, in Korchin Jun-huit
Hoshu of Inner Mongolia. He is also the vise dean of Mongolia College of Inner
Mongolia Normal University, Ph.D.in Mongolian language. As a researcher, he has
been to the Northeast University in Japan, funded by the Chinese Education
Ministry. He is concurrently the deputy secretary-general of
the Mongolian
Language Association in China, a member of the National Standardization Work
Group of Mongolian Language Information Processing, a member of the National
Ethnic Minority Linguistics Society, the assistant president of Mongolian
elementary and high school Textbook Research Association in Inner Mongolia. In
2001, he was selected in the second group of the “111 Qualified Higher Education
People Project” of the province, and in 2002, he was selected in the 2-Group
People of the “ 321 Qualified People of the new century” in the Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region.
Professor Chinggeltu’s specialization and research fields are as follows: applied
linguistics ( includes in Mongolian information processing, and language teaching
research) and linguistic theory. He undertook or has been in charge of 11 national or
provincial research projects, published 5 books, about 20 papers.
He won the following awards for his publications. His The Study on the
Grammatical Functions of Mongolian Plural Suffixes got the First Prize in the 9th
annul meeting of Mongolian Language Society in China, Facing Information
Processing: a Study on Mongolian Fixed Phrases the Second Prize in the 6th Social
Science Works of Excerlence,
The Educational Information Technology won the
Second Prize of the 3rd Minority Education Excellent works. Facing the Information
Processing: the Classification of Mongolian Fixed Phrases the Third Prize of the 7th
better research results of Inner Mongolia Normal University,
Dictionary of the
Information Explanation of Mongolian Modern Fixed Phrases got the First Prize of
the 8th outstanding works of Inner Mongolia Normal University.
Professor Temurbagan, male, Mongolian, born in January 1951, in Jalad
Hoshu of Hinggan Aimag of Inner Mongolia. He is professor & Ph.D. in
Mongolian literature. He is the dean of Mongolian College of Inner Mongolia
Normal University. He, concurrently works as the supervisor of doctoral degree
candidates of the Academy of Social Science of Mongolia State, a member of the
academic committee of Inner Mongolia Normal University, the standing council
member of China’s Mongolia Literature Society, the vice secretary-general of the
Inner Mongolia Folk Literature and Art Society. He has been teaching in IMNU
since 1975, and has taught the courses as follows, modern Chinese literature,
Mongolia literature, the Mongolia ancient literature, the Chinese ancient
documents，Mongolian literature documents.
He specializes mainly in two fields, the ancient Mongolia authors in Chinese
writing, and the study on the Secret History of the Mongols.
He published 3 books, nearly 50 academic papers as “The Documentary
Characteristic of the Ancient Mongolia Writers in Chinese Writing and their
Forms”, undertook 3 scientific research projects.
Three of his papers “The Secret History of Yuan Dynasty by Ma Yu-tang, (the 15th
Volumn Hand-copied book)”， “The Investigation of the Ja-da of The Secret History
of the Mongols”，”The Hand-copied Book of The Secret History of the Mongols Kept
in the Residence of Karchin Wang, and its Academic Value” won the third prize, the
second prize and the third prize in the 3th , the 5rd, , the 6th Philosophy and Social
Science Works of Excellence, respectively. His book
The Study of the Ancient
Mongolia Writers in Chinese Writing was awarded the second prize in the 7th IMAR
Philosophy and Social Science Works of Excellence in 2003. Another of his book The
Study of the Document Editions of the ‘Secretarial History of the Mongols ’went to the
first prize in the 7th Philosophy and Social Science Works of Excellence in 2006.
Professor Hasbagan, Ph.D., professor, male, born in March of 1957, in Baerin
Barun Hoshu in Chifeng of Inner Mongolia. He has been working in the
Mongolian Language and Literature Institute in Inner Mongolia Normal
University. Now, he is a professor in Mongolian language of
Mongolian College
in Inner Mongolia Normal University, the head of Mongolian Language and
Literature Institute. He is a member of the International Mongolian Society, the
council member of the Ethnic Minority Linguistics Association in China, the
standing council member of Mongolian Language Society in China .
He specializes in the research of the study of Middle Mongolian, a comparative
study of Mongolian Languages Group, the study of ancient Mongolian documents.
He published 3 academic books, and
over 40 academic papers. He has been to the
Department of Linguistics at Harvard University for further studies and research
from February to June in 1999. As a researcher, he was granted the funds by the
Chinese government in 2005.
From October 2005 to September 2006, Professor
Hasbagan carried out his further research in Japan, meanwhile, he co-researched
with Hashi Moto ( a Japanese) a well-known Mongolian Professor in Osaka Foreign
Language Studies in Japan. There, he finished his first draft of the book “ A
Comparative study between the Golden History and the Secret History of the
Mongols” with the (Japanese) Mongolian Professor.
He won the following awards for he publications. His book The Study of Middle
Mongolian was awarded the Philosophy and Social Science Works of Excellence in
Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Another of his book The Comparative Study
in Phonology of Mongolian Language Group won the Second Prize of the Philosophy
Social Science Works of Excellence in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. His
paper “Nouns of Locality in the Secret History of the Mongols” won the Second Prize
of outstanding research achievements Mongolian Language Society in China.
Another of his paper “The Study of the Phonological Evaluation of Same Words
Variant Scripts in the Secret History of the Mongols” won the Youth Scientific and
Technological Creativity Award by
six different departments or Instituions of
Inner Mongolia Scientific and Technological Society.
Chinese Language and Literature
The MA Program in Chinese Language and Literature was permitted its
MA degree grant in 1986, before 1986 it was formerly the subject named Modern
Chinese established in 1978, and Chinese Department traced back to 1958. In
1986, it was granted the permission by the National university Degree
Association (of China) to enroll the master’s degree candidates, and was one of
the first granted center in master degree in our university.
This subject has a long history, with professional faulty and rich resources.
There are 11 full-time teachers, among them are 3 professors, 2 associate
professors and 6 lecturers, including 4 Ph.D. and 5 MA, and 5 supervisors of
master degree candidates. The professors in this field have undertaken such
projects as funded by the National Philosophy and Social Sciences Project，by the
National Education Ministry and
by the Inner Mongolia Social Sciences
Planning，a considerable number of books, textbooks, research papers have been
published. The main research fields include ancient Chinese, modern Chinese,
the Chinese teaching to foreigners, documents，the language teaching and
research, etc. All the professors of this program have rich teaching experiences,
and program is available of all the MA courses relevant to the above fields.
This disciplinary area has succeeded in cultivating and fostering qualified
MA candidates, the students have very good chances to be employed after their
graduation. Many of the MA graduates applied doctor’s degree program and
were admitted in many top ranking universities in China, and others began their
teaching career in the university or colleges in or outside Inner Mongolia. Among
them, some are the backbones in the teaching or research in their own
institution.
Professor Zhang Ye, male, born in Jiamusi of Heilongkiang Province, in 1957.
He graduated from the Chinese Department of Harbin Normal University in
January, 1982. Now he is a professor of Chinese Language and Literature College
of Inner Mongolia Normal University, a member of the academic association of
Inner Mongolia Normal University, a member of Chinese Exegetical Studies
Society, a member of Language and Cultural Research Society, the vice head of
Language Studies Society of Inner Mongolia, a member of Inner Mongolia
Language and Chinese Characters Institute, the head of Language Research
Institute of Chinese College in Inner Mongolia Normal University, the head of
Chinese philology master degree section.
Professor Zhang Ye undertook a number of research projects both in the
provincial level or the university’s level, published 4 academic books, 3 textbooks,
and 40 research papers. For his book Snorkeling out of the Sea, he was the first
prize winner of the Golden Key of the National books Prize in 1989 , his book
General Ancient Chinese Functional Words was awarded the Second Prize of
Scientific Research Achievement in Inner Mongolia Normal University, another of
his book Function Words in Notes and Commentary on Ancient Texts
won the Third
Prize of scientific research in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. As a chief
compiler, the series of linguistic textbook was awarded the Second Prize of IMAR
governmental teaching resources achievement.
Professor Yan, Yan, female, born in Shenmu County of Shangshi Province in
June
1970. She is Ph.D. in literature & post-doctor，professor in language
Chinese，the vice dean of Chinese College， a member of Chinese Exegetical
Studies Society, a member of Chinese Document Society, and a member of Inner
Mongolia Linguistic Society.
Professor Yan Yan’s research fields are: the study of the ancient culture, and
word meaning. She undertook 4 research projects on either the national level or
the provincial level. She published 2 books and about 20 papers.
She mainly teaches such courses as ancient Chinese, the diet and Chinese
culture, general Chinese culture，textual criticism，methods of linguistics research,
the history of linguistics, etc.
She was awarded the youth prize in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region The
Seventh Social Science Excellent Achievement in 2003. She won the Second Prize in
Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region The Eighth Philosophy and Social Science
Excellent Achievement in 2006. She won the First Prize Award for Young Teachers
Teaching Contest in Inner Mongolia Normal University in 2005.
Associate Professor Li Jian-chong, born in Wulanchabu Aimag of Inner
Mongolia in January 1971. He is now an associate professor of Chinese College of
Inner Mongolia Normal University, supervisor of MA, head of department
teaching Chinese as a second language, a member of the Society of the Bilingual
Teaching and Research to ethnic minorities in China, a member of Inner Mongolia
linguistic Society. He participated in revising the books The Criteria of
International Chinese Teacher, and Standard of International Chinese Competence
held by National Chinese Committee. He joined in compiling such books as
Modern Chinese, Introduction to Linguistics, A Comparison of Ancient and Modern
Chinese Grammar, Practical Writing: A Course Book. More than 20 papers were
published in the journals in China. He was awarded one teaching research
achievement and two awards for his scientific research achievements of Inner
Mongolia Normal University, two awards by Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Social Science Excellent Achievement and two awards for his ethnic minority
education research by Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Education Institute.
Associate Professor Li Shiu, female, born in 1962, Han (Chinese). She
graduated in Chinese Department of Inner Mongolia University. Now she is an
assistant professor in Chinese language, of Chinese Department of Inner
Mongolia Normal University. Concurrently, she is the deputy secretary of Inner
Mongolia Linguistic Society, a member of Northeast Chinese Linguistic (teaching
Chinese as a foreign language) in China. Since 2003, she has been the head of the
MA in Chinese Program.
She published a book, co-compiled 3 textbooks, published over 20 papers in
the journals both in China and abroad. She conducted or participated in the
research a few projects, some of her academic achievements received awards.
Professor Wang Jian-li, female, Han(Chinese), Born in March 1968,
professor, and Ph.D. in literature. She is the vice dean of the Language Research
Institute of Chinese College of Inner Mongolia Normal University.
Professor Wang Jian-li’s research interests are: exegetics, ancient Chinese
lexicology. She undertook or participated 3 national or provincial research
projects, published about 40 papers in the academic journals. She won two times
of “the Ding Bang-chin awards” sponsored by the Chinese Research Center of
Che-Chiang University, won a teaching award and a teaching research works
from Inner Mongolia Normal University, and 3 prizes for her works of excellence
of Social Sciences of IMNU, won 4 awards for works of excellence granted by
Social Sciences of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and 1 award for teaching
research granted by Inner Mongolia National Education Research.
Regional Economics
The Regional Economics MA Program derived from Applied Economics MA
Program in Economics,
which was the first authorized MA center in Economics
in the university. The Regional Economics Program was permitted its
qualification to grant the Master’s Degree in 2002. There are three aspects of
research in this field: Regional Economic Theories and Practice, Regional
Development and Research, Economic Research in Inner Mongolia.
As a branch of the Medium Economy, Regional Economics is a new frontier
subject, recently developed from the combining Economics with Geography.
Based on the Regional Economic Theories, the Program emphasizes the
combination of theories and practice, and of research and teaching, emphasizes
on the theories of applied research, aims at fostering and cultivating people to
serve the regional economics and society development. Supported by Inner
Mongolia Minority Economy Research Association and Regional Economy
Institute, two important research institutes, the Program has 7 supervisors of
MA, in which 6 professors, 3 professors with doctor's degree.
In the last five years, the faculties have undertaken 4 research projects
funded by the National Philosophy and Social Science, 5 projects funded by the
Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Philosophical and Social Science, 2 were
funded by the Inner Mongolia Education Bureau. Over 100 academic papers
were published in some professional core journals, such as Modern Economic
Research and Ethnic Minority Studies, and 6 academic books were published.
Besides the above academic achievements,
the faculty won 6 Philosophy and
Social Sciences Awards and Prizes on the autonomous region (provincial ) level.
Professor Erdunjabu, born in 1948, male, Mongolian, Professor, MA ,
member (3 terms of office)of the Academic Committee and Teaching Committee
of Inner Mongolia Normal University, council member of China’s Foreign
Economics Theories Research Association and other 4 national academic
associations, the president or vice-president of Inner Mongolia Minority
Economy Research Association and other 6 societies, visiting fellow of Japan
Northeast Asian Research Center, legislature advisor of Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region of the People's Congress, committeeman of Government
Legislation Advisory Committee.
His fields of research: Regional Economy, China’s Minority Economy. He
undertook 4 national or provincial research projects, participated in a UNESCO
Project. He has published over 70 academic papers in academic journals,
including 2 of his papers in <Cambridge Forum> from Cambridge University, 4
in <North Cycle> in Japan, <Selected Works of Economy> and <Selected Works
of Development>. He published 7 books, 7 textbooks in collaboration with others.
He has been to countries of Republic of Mongolia and Russia, for undertaking
field observations and research in 2000.
In 1994, Professor Erdunjabu was selected as the “Middle-aged Expert with
Outstanding Contribution”. In 1998 he was awarded third prize of Zeng Xianzi
Education Fund. Since 1999, he has been sponsored by the National Council with
special allowance. In 2001, as the editor his textbook Political Economy won the
first prize in Mongolian for the textbook of excellence awarded by the Education
Ministry of China. Since 2001, he got first prize once and second prize twice
awarded for works of excellence by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
social sciences. In 2003-2004, he won the titles as “Advanced Individual” for his
teaching
and
“excellent
returned
overseas-student
of
Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region. In 2006, he awarded ‘Uulaanhu Fellowship’.
Professor Li Xiang-he, born in 1964, male, Han nationality, Ph.D., Professor,
head of the Regional Economics Master’s Degree Program, Vice-dean of the
Economic College of Inner Mongolia Normal University.
His fields of research are regional economy, marketing economy theories and
policies. He published over 70 academic papers in academic journals and 2 books.
He undertook 2 provincial research projects, and now is undertaking 1 national
research project and 4 teaching and research projects of the university. His series
of papers “The Research on the Labour Market Development won third prize of
the works of excellence in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region social sciences in
1997. Another series of his papers “the Research on the Countermeasure to the
Western Development won the second prize of works of excellence in Inner
Mongolia Autonomous Region social sciences in 2003. His paper “the Research
on the Countermeasure to the Western Development won the second prize in
Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region government social sciences in 2006. He won
other University-level prizes of excellent scientific or research awards. His
“Research on the Reform of socioeconomics teaching content and methodology
won the second prize of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region teaching
achievement awards in 1997.
His “Research on Ideological and Political
Education and Curriculum Construction” won the second prize of the teaching
resources of Inner Mongolia Normal University in 2000. Moreover, he won a
number of similar prizes of university-level excellent teaching achievements. He
was awarded the title of advanced young science and technology person by the
university and the honorable title of young science and technology model by
Science and Technology Bureau, Youth League Committee and other six 6
departments in 2000. In the same year, he was selected as the academic leader of
Inner Mongolia Normal University “3 Five Project”. He was appraised to be the
excellent teacher in 2007.
Anthropology
The Program in anthropology was authorized to grant Master Degrees by the
State Degree Council in 2005, it is in the Sociology and Folk Art College，Inner
Mongolia Normal University. The MA Program in anthropology has enrolled
postgraduates for two years.
The research focuses on social and cultural anthropology, and eco-anthropology.
The required courses include introductions to anthropology, the anthropological
theories
in
foreign
countries,
cultural
anthropology,
eco-anthropology,
anthropological investigation research methods, etc. The elective courses include
religion anthropology, national (minority) sociology, theory and practice of field
research, etc.
According to the characteristics and development of anthropology, the courses of
its master degree require students to master solid theory basis and systematic
professional knowledge of anthropology, sociology and folk art. Practical teaching
focuses on field and social investigation and research, special attention is on
improving students’ practical working abilities.
There are 5 tutors of the MA Program in anthropology.
1. Professor Jagar, Ph.D., professor, head of Anthropology Master Degree
Program.
His research interest is eco-anthropology. He is now undertaking one research
project sponsored by the government, two provincial projects. He published 3
books, and more than 50 papers.
2.
Professor Aochi, Ph.D., professor. Her research specializes in social and
cultural anthropology. She is undertaking one national research project, three
provincial projects. She published two books, and more than 40 papers.
3. Professor Huril Baatar, Ph.D., professor. He research specializes in social and
cultural anthropology. He undertakes two research projects. He published two
academic books, and over 30 papers.
4. Professor He Chun, Ph.D., professor. He focuses his research on social and
cultural anthropology. He undertakes one project funded by China’s government.
He published three books and more than 30 papers.
5. Professor Ooren Chichige, Ph.D., assistant professor. Her research focus is
eco-anthropology. She is undertaking one national project, one provincial project.
She published more than 20 papers.
Chinese History and Culture
The Program in History and Culture was authorized to grant Master Degrees
by the State Degree Council in 1986. Accordingly, the program has enrolled
postgraduates for more than 20 years successively. The faculty of the program
concentrates on the research of the history of northern borderland in China and
history of northern nationalities in China. At present, the research covers five
aspects: the history of economics, society and culture in northern borderland in
China, the history of ethnic minorities in the northern part of China, the
document research of northern borderland and northern nationalities in China,
the history of northern borderland in China and the relationship with
neighboring countries, the archaeology of northern borderland in China, etc.
There are 9 full-time and part-time tutors, including 7 professors ( or
researchers), 7 with Ph.D..
Profesor Yu Yong, male, Mongolia, born in November, 1965; in Chifeng in
Inner Mongolia. He is Ph.D. and professor in history. He is the dean of History
and Culture College of Inner Mongolia Normal University, and a member of the
Academic Committee in Inner Mongolia Normal University Committee. Also he
was selected among the persons of leadership in “3-5 Project” in 1998, and in the
third level of “111 Project” in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region higher
education.
He was awarded the works of excellence in the 7th Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region Social Science. He has taught the courses as “the history of
modern and contemporary economy in China”, “the history of northern
borderland economy in China”, etc.
He focuses his researches on the history of modern economy in China and
the history of northern borderland economy in China. He published the Events of
MinGuo History (Volume Three, Part One) with others, and published
Investigation of Financial Succor in China Countryside in 1930s, and about 20
papers. He undertook or is undertaking 1 national project, 2 regional level
research projects in Inner Mongolia Autonomous, participating 3 national
projects.
Professor Shie Yong-mei, Ph.D. in history, assistant professor, female,
Mongolia, born in August, 1970, in Hulunber of Inner Mongolia.
Her special interest is in the history of Mongolian in Yuan Dynasty. She
published more than 10 papers in the journals both in China and abroad. She
has undertaken 1 Inner Mongolia Higher Education Project and 1 Project
funded by the Inner Mongolia Planning Office. Meanwhile she is participating
projects funded by the National Philosophy and Social Sciences Fellowship. She
was awarded the third prize in the 8th Social Sciences in Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region.
Natural Geography
The Natural Geography Program has been qualified to grant the Master’s Degree in
2003, since then the program began to enroll its first group graduate candidates. It is the
only authorized program of Master’s Degree in RS (Remote Sensing) and GIS (Geographic
Information Systems) in Inner Mongolia, with more than 30 graduate candidates. It has
been regarded as the base to foster talents of RS and GIS in Inner Mongolia,
The Natural Geography Program focuses on it research in the following 4 aspects:
Application of GIS, Redevelopment of GIS Software, UGIS (Urban Geographical Information
System), and Remote Sensing for Natural Resources and Environment.
There are two key laboratories for the major, Inner Mongolia Resource and
Environmental Information System key laboratory and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Remote Sensing and GIS key laboratory in the university. It is one of the member
organizations
of
CNC
IGBP
(Chinese
National
Society
for
the
International
Geo-sphere-Biosphere Program), it is the Joint Research Center for International Mongolian
Plateau Environment and Sustainable Development, Central Laboratory for MAPGIS
Project, Certificating and Training centre of MAPGIS, member institute of Cartography and
Geography Information System of Chinese Geographical Social.
The program undertakes many research projects, among which 4 are funded by the
National Natural Science Foundation of China, 3 international cooperative projects, over 10
funded by Inner Mongolia Natural Science Foundation, and several horizontal research
projects. Due to the above research projects, Different information systems have been
established, the Territory Resources Information System, Forest Resource Management
Information System (Digital Forestry), Herdsmen Management Information System, Grass
Resources Management Information System, Soil Resources Management Information
System, Green Food Base Management Information System, Land Resources Management
Information System, and Sightseeing Resources Management Information System, etc. The
center has been the base of GIS Software Redevelopment, environment, natural disasters
monitoring and retrieving by remote sensing, and the centre of the 3S (remote sensing,
geographical information system, and global positioning system).
Large number of international exchange and cooperation have been done, and some
have had good results. Five international conferences were sponsored and held by the center,
and we participated in international conference held by others quite a number times. Good
partnership have been established with the Institute of Geographical Research of the
Mongolian Academy of Sciences, National University of Mongolia, Mongolia National
Normal University, the Institute of Geography & Ecology of the Mongolian Academy of
Sciences, the Institute of Plant Protection of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, the
Institute of Zoology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, the Mongolia State
Hydro-geological and Meteorological Administration, Miyagi University of Education
(Japan), Tohoku University (Japan), Chiba University (Japan), Tokyo University (Japan),
and Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Professor Bao Yu-hai, male, Mongolian, born in October, 1965 in Korchin Barun-dundu
Hoshu of Inner Mongolia . He is a Professor, Ph.D. in Geography, Vice-dean of the College of
Geographical Science of Inner Mongolia Normal University, the director of both the key
laboratories of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Remote Sensing & GIS key
laboratory and Inner Mongolia Resource and Environmental Information System key
laboratory. He has been selected as the academic leader of Inner Mongolia Normal University
“3 Fives Project”, excellent young science and technology person in the university, was
selected to the second level of the “111 Program for Higher Education Talent Plan” in Inner
Mongolia, and singled out twice to the second level of “the 321 Program for New Century
Talent Plan” in Inner Mongolia. He is a member of two important international academic
organizations of CNC IGBP (Chinese National Committee For The International
Geosphere-Biosphere Programme) and RS/DIS (Remote Sensing/Data Information System),
a member of the Committee of Cartography and Geography Information System of Chinese
Geographical Social, a member of the Youth Working Committee of China Natural Resource
Institute, Deputy Director of Inner Mongolia Meteorological Society, he has been engaged as a
foreign academician by the Natural and Physical Science Institute of Mongolia, is concurrently
invited to be a full-time professor in Chinese Minority Research Centre in Humanity and
Social Science Research Base sponsored by China's Ministry of Education in Central
University for Nationalities, co-professor of doctoral degree candidates of physical geography
in Northeast Normal University, assessing-evaluation expert of the international project
sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, evaluation expert of the
degree granting sponsored by the Ministry of Education of China, evaluation expert for
projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China , evaluation expert for
Technology Awarding in Inner Mongolia, evaluation expert for “863 Program of Expert
bank” sponsored by the national science and technology plan.
Professor Bao Yu-hai has been a the young professor who undertakes the most research
projects. He has undertaken or participated in a variety of research projects related to the
investigation and evaluation of the resource and environment remote sensing. He undertook
or has undertaken 34 national and provincial research projects，and participated 29 other
projects. He published two books, and he was the member editor of other two books,
published over 30 papers in the academic journals.
The project team, under him, has preliminarily set up the Territory Resources
Information System with the help of video data by LAND-SAT TM in 2000. He was in
charge of setting up an EOS/MODIS satellite receiving station from November in 2003. His
project group has made great contributions to applying remote sensing, developing and
applying GIS and applying 3S comprehensively.
Professor Bao Yu-hai won the awards for his Academic Achievements as follows: a
second and a third prize of Inner Mongolia Social Sciences Prize in 2000; the honor of
Advanced Young Science and Technology Personnel of our university in 2000; won a second
& a third Prize for Progress in Science and Technology in 1996, in 2005 respectively, second
prize of teaching research in 2004. For his achievement in teaching, he won the honor of best
supervisor of the thesis twice. His “Talent fosters mode by combining teaching with
research” was awarded the second prize of teaching research achievement in our university.
His courseware of “Introduction to the Geographical Information System” is widely adopted
and highly appraised, and won second prize of the teaching achievement of IMNU.
