8th Grade New York City Trip Fundraiser January 2015 Dear 8th Grade Parents and Guardians: A Pasta Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser has been scheduled for Friday, March 15, 2015, in the Porter School Cafetorium from 5:00-7:00 P.M. This is one of our last big fundraisers before we tally up the final bill for the 8th Grade New York City trip in June. We need the help of all parents and students in order for this fundraiser to be successful. All 8th grade students have been given Envelopes with 6 numbered tickets and are being asked to sell a minimum of 4 tickets to our pasta dinner. Tickets are $5.00 each. Children 3 and under eat for free. Please return ticket money and any unsold tickets in the envelope provided to me by February 24, 2014. Please write down how many tickets were sold, including specific ticket numbers. If more tickets are needed, please contact me at 860-228-9493, ext. 120. Tickets will also be available at the door. Take-out orders will also be available as an option; however, any orders taken in advance must have a pick-up time, so that orders will be ready when the families arrive. Please hand these orders in with your ticket money. Students receive $2.00 directly to their account for each ticket they sell!!!! This is an excellent way of reducing the cost of their trip. Tickets can also be sold at ticket booths set up at recreation dept sporting events such as Saturday basketball games etc. Parents will also be needed to help with set-up (3:00-5:00 P.M.), during the dinner (5:00-7:00 P.M.) and with clean-up (7:00-8:00 P.M.) Please consider volunteering. If interested in helping, please contact Cheryl Urban at (860) 228-0526 or via e-mail at cherylu4@gmail.com During our pasta dinner, we will be holding a Silent Auction. Each eighth grade homeroom is responsible for creating two baskets. For example, beach supplies, gardening supplies, beauty supplies, Blockbuster movie basket, etc. Students are being asked to bring in an item for their themes when their homerooms have made a decision. Please be sure to ask your child what themes were selected. In addition, we are encouraging parents to put together their own basket or join with other parents to make a few. On the back of this letter is a list of basket themes for you to use for ideas. All baskets need to be completed and dropped off at the Porter Main Office by Wednesday, March 11th. If you have any questions about the auction, please call Kim Foss at (860) 228-0774 or by email at: kimberlyfoss1@gmial.com We are looking forward to a very successful fundraiser. Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Corey Polakowski 8th Grade Advisor Silent Auction Themes 1. Beauty Supplies 2.
