GOT ANXIETY?
Anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric illnesses affecting both
children and adults.
More than 40 million American men and women are diagnosed with an anxiety
disorder each year, and almost 7 percent of college students report having
symptoms.
Anxiety disorders include:
 Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
 Panic disorder
 Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
 Social anxiety disorder (SAD)
 Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
 Specific phobias
Anxiety disorders can occur at any age but often will surface during a person's
teens or twenties.
Women are twice as likely to be affected as men. Thirty percent of women will
have some type of anxiety disorder during their lifetime.
Anxiety disorders are real, serious, and treatable medical conditions, but only
one-third of those suffering receive treatment.
