Summer Camp at the Museum of Nature & Science
Las Cruces, NM – The Las Cruces Museum of Nature & Science has opened registration for
Summer Camp 2013. All camps are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. Themes for
summer 2013 are marine biology, sound/music, nature artist and the summer science mash-up.
Registration forms are available at the museum or on the website at
http://museums.las-cruces.org Details about each camp follow:
June 3 – 7: Marine Biology $150 fee, ages 10 – 12.
Join the museum in learning about the environments of the ocean. Learn about animal
anatomy by dissecting a series of marine animals including crayfish, squid, starfish and fish.
The final day will include a discussion of coral reefs and the amazing habitat they create.
June 10 – 14: Catch the (Sound) Wave. $125 fee, ages 7 – 9.
Explore sound & music in this way out loud summer program. We will learn about how sound
moves, make several instruments and noise makers as well as learning how animals use sound
to communicate.
June 17 – 21: Nature Art $100 fee, ages 5 – 6.
Unleash your inner artist during this fun summer camp at the museum. Each day we will
complete an art project to take home based on the surrounding desert. Join the museum in
creating a wind chime, sun catcher, stained glass flowers and more!
June 24 – 28: Summer Science Mash-Up. $125 fee, ages 7 – 9.
Calling all mad scientists! Join the museum for a series of exciting explorations about science.
Each day we will dive into a different topic of chemistry or physics for a down & dirty
investigation of science!
