ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS. The principle point of the environmental policy of the company, GRUPO ALVIC FR, S.L., is the continuous application of a strategy of prevention, as much in the processes as in products, with the objective to reduce to the minimum, using the technology available, the impact on the environment, giving special emphasis on the service life of the product, from raw materials to the future elimination of the furniture, once obsolete. All this, without leaving aside the levels of necessary security and quality for commercialization. This environmental policy of the company GROUP ALVIC FR is translated in the study of the following applicable recommendations in the different phases of the service life of the product (ACV): 1.- Components or significant priorities of the product for the environment. A part of the raw material that is used for the elaboration of the melamine boards, from which we make our office furniture, is recycled; concretely it comes from sawdust, wooden pallets, rolls of pine, ends of trunks and chips from power saws. In addition, defective and obsolete pieces of melamine board are also recycled, as detailed in point 3 below. In order to achieve an environmentally sustainable management of forests worldwide, the companies that comprise WWW-Grupo 2000, among them GRUPO ALVIC FR, LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY, intend to gradually replace wood and the derivatives of forest non-certificated with wood from known origin and, later, by registered wood that fulfils the principles of the PFEC; which evidently is a long and expensive process. The final objective is that all phases sourcing and manufacture of wood-based products comply with the principles of the PFEC which is that all wood-based products can be traced back to their forest of origin. For this reason, our company GRUPO ALVIC FR MOBILIARIO, S.L., has obtained the PEFC rule with number PEFC/14-35-00047 since 16/02/2009. 2. Aspects of product’s use Our company applies product’s policies focused to increase the services of the product. The above mentioned measures, designed to improve the life cycle of the product, reverberate in improvements at the moment of generating residues for the Environment. These measures contain three basic aspects: possibility of combination and variation based on a system of totally modular design of our furniture. Secondly, simplicity in the cleanliness and maintenance of our products, use and managing. And finally, the choice of quality components as well as the facility of obtaining refill. 3. Possibility of furniture recycling or furniture components recycling Any furniture that has remained obsolete and which components could not be re-used in the productive process of new models is submitted to our manager of residues, who, by means of the recycling and valuation, allows that they could be commercialized and delivered again, as raw material, to other suppliers for its reincorporation to the system. It is in this aspect that the life cycle of our furniture, or, from the cradle to the tomb, it reduces notably the environmental impact. 4. Conclusion The will of our company is to promote the design, the production and the use of raw materials that reduce considerably the environmental impact, favouring the recovery or reutilization of the products that we commercialize, once already obsolete.
