Bowen’s disease, actinic
keratosis, vitiligo etc.
Please refer for assessment.
Basal cell carcinoma
Below the clavicle (see exceptions below)
We can refer on to HHL Minor Surgery
Refer to another community provider
Lumps and bumps
Subcutaneous
Refer to HHL minor surgery.
Refer cutaneous lesions to dermatology for diagnosis.
PPwT conditions may apply.

Two week cancer waits
melanoma, squamous carcinoma
Basal cell carcinoma
(routine referral to OPD)
Above the clavicle
Recurrent BCC
Basi-squamous and superficial spreading BCC
Cystic and scarring acne
Where the patient is suitable for Roaccutane and where
previous treatment has failed.
Extensive psoriasis
Where topical treatment has failed and the patient is
suitable for PUVA, methotrexate or biological.
URGENT Problems – refer directly to Secondary Care
Severe and extensive bullous conditions
Erythroderma
Skin problems that should not be referred at all
Skin tags
Please treat in the practice as appropriate
Warts and verrucas
Please treat with salicylic acid and advise on natural
regression.
We are unable to offer cryotherapy.
Single nodular warts may respond to curettage.
Please include in the referral letter:
 Clear statement of the problem
 What is expected from the referral or the reason for referring.
