Surgery and Dispensary Opening Hours
The surgery and dispensary are open from 8.30am to 1pm – Monday to
Friday and from 2pm to 6pm – Monday to Friday. We offer an evening
surgery once a week from 6.30 to 7pm.
Home Visits
If you are too ill to come to the surgery, please ring to request a visit. It is
helpful to the doctor and to other patients waiting to be seen, if this request
can be made as soon as possible in the morning. Emergency visits will be
made immediately.
When the Surgery is closed
Between 1pm and 2pm during the week and from 6pm on Friday to 8.30 am
on Monday the surgery is closed. Please ring NHS111 during these times.
The 111 service will help you to find the right care to meet your needs
including the Devon Doctors service. NHS 111 is the new free of charge
telephone number for non-emergency health advice in Devon.
Access to patient Information
You are entitled to receive a copy of a letter written about you from one
healthcare professional to another. If you would like to receive a copy of a
letter written about you please ask your doctor or nurse at the consultation.
You have the right to see or have a copy of any personal information held in
your health record, subject to the limitations in the law. Please request the
‘Your Guide to what we do with your information’ leaflet.
Appointments
To enable patients to be seen in a fair and timely fashion we request that you
call the surgery whenever the phone lines are open. When requesting to
book an appointment to see the doctor the receptionist will take your phone
number and any instructions about when you can be contacted. It is helpful
to us if you can give a brief indication of the nature of why you are requesting
a consultation as this will help us to prioritise calls. The clinician on duty will
call you back within an agreed length of time. When the clinician calls you
back you can discuss the matter and agree the next step; this may be:-
Abusive and Violent Patients
The practice adopts a zero tolerance to violent or abusive patients. Violent
or seriously abusive or threatening behaviour towards any of the practice
staff or other persons present on the practice premises will result in the
immediate removal of a patient from our practice list. Family members of
these patients will also be removed from our list. Violent patients and their
families will now forfeit the right to be registered with a doctor of their choice.
They will be allocated to specialist GP practices by the CCG.
 An appointment on that day, or on another day to suit you
 Or you may be requested to have some tests done first
 Or it may be that the matter can be dealt with over the phone without
the need to come to the surgery.
If you have a condition which requires regular monitoring such as Chronic
Respiratory Disease, Asthma, Chronic Heart Disease or Diabetes, these
appointments can all be booked in advance as well as appointments with the
nurse or HCA. We run a late evening surgery once a week for the benefit
of patients who would like to be seen outside normal working hours. If
you are unable to keep an appointment, please let us know as soon as
possible.

Wembury Surgery Equipment Fund
The fund was established in 1988 since when many items of valuable
medical equipment have been presented to Wembury Surgery. Money is
mainly raised through generous donations from appreciative residents, often
in memory of loved ones. The specialised equipment increases the range of
care that the practice is able to offer to the community with some procedures
replacing the need for hospital appointments. For further information please
contact the Surgery.
Patient Participation Group
Set up to provide a means of helping the practice to give the community the
sort of service it needs. We would encourage you to contact the group, via
the surgery, with any ideas or suggestions you may have.
