Role: Sustainability Officer – Asset Management (Maternity Cover) Responsible To: Asset Project Manager Responsible For: N/A Location: Liverpool Purpose of the Role To improve the environmental performance of LMH as a landlord and a developer of new homes, liaising with key staff, Senior Management, external stakeholders, contractors and partnership organisations. To co-ordinate the implementation, monitoring and revision of LMH’s sustainability strategy. Contribute to LMH’s approach and policies, with particular focus on domestic energy efficiency / fuel poverty, carbon reduction, renewable energy and sustainable procurement. Specific Responsibilities & Accountabilities 1. To develop and implement LMH’s Sustainabilty Strategy incorporating carbon reduction, environmental quality, energy effiency awareness and reducing fuel poverty. 2. To be responsible for developing, delivering and monitoring the Sustainability Strategy’s Action Plan. 3. To provide advice and support to staff, contractors and partners to ensure that opportunites to develop sustainable initiatives are maxmised. 4. Act as a key point of contact for all sustainability issues, developing partnerships with other RSL’s, contractors, suppliers, funders, agencies and communities to maximise benefits for LMH customers. 5. Provide advice and training to staff and customers on sustainability, energy, environmental and waste management issues. 6. Source and develop opportunites for grant funding to support projects that positively impact the environment, promote sustainability and reduce domestic carbon emissions. 7. Maximise the opportunites for retrofit of energy measures and environmental management at LMH, ensuring that best practice is maintained. 8. To submit bids for funding or manage procurement exercises to ensure that LMH maximises investment from energy companies through ECO or other funding sources such as ERDF. 9. To contribute to partnership working with other RPs and partners in initiatives such as Project Viridis. 10. To co-ordinate and implement LMH’s Strategy and Policy for the Green Deal. 11. Drive forward the sustainability agenda through building knowledge and expertise on new products and services. 12. Provide advice on making procurement sustainable and ensure that key suppliers and contractors have measurable targets and develop performance in this area. 13. Manage the collection and interpretation of data monitoring environmental performance including the identification of key indicators and measuring LMH’s contribution to domestic carbon reduction. 14. Analyse statistical information to support and inform new developments and initiatives. 15. To provide advice and support to colleagues in ensuring sustainability is a key aprt of development programmes such as new build and empty homes. 16. Review and update LMH’s Environmental Policy to ensure it feeds into the sustainability objectives. 17. Producing reports for the Executive Management Team. 18. To carry out such other duties and responsibilities as are consistent with the nature of the role. Corporate Responsibilities 1. Experience, Skills & Knowledge Knowledge and experience of sustainability including energy efficiency and environmental issues. Experience of developing housing retrofit projects. Experience of securing and administering grant funding. Developed communication skills Experience in the social housing industry Experience of using a computerised system including Word, Excel and Outlook Good working knowledge of tenant involvement issues as they relate to housing development. Presentation skills, both oral and written.
