LOSC Wins 2008 Short Course 11-14 State Championships!
The 2008 Short Course 11-14 Championships was an
amazing meet for the Lake Oswego Swim Club! Our
contention of 33 swimmers earned a total of 836
points, resulting in LOSC winning the state title, which
the Tualatin Hills Thunderbolts have held for as many as
30 years. LOSC also set 11 new state records (Oregon
Swimming Inc.), and a USA Swimming National Age
Group record! That's the second one for LOSC!
Grace Carlson set five individual records in the Girls
12yr old events. In the 50 Free, she bettered the old
record of 24.16, swimming 23.58. In the 100 Free, her
time of 52.54 upset the old record of 53.14. Grace also
lowered the 50 Back record by over a second,
swimming 26.63 to 27.76. She demolished the 100 Back
record; her time of 57.25 was more than two seconds
faster than the old record of 59.64. Grace's final record
came in the 50 Fly, swimming 25.85 compared to the
old record of 26.50.
Karen Turner set one individual record at the meet,
bettering the Girls 14 100 Back record with a time of
56.20.
LOSC was also responsible for five of the six relay
records set at the meet. The highlight was the team of
Karen Turner, Amy Wiley, Sarah Feil and Kemy Lin
upsetting a USA Swimming National Age Group
record! The Girls 13-14 200 Medley relay stood at
1:46.74 held by King Aquatics of Seattle. The LOSC girls
bettered that 2004 record by over a second and a half
by swimming 1:45.11. The old Oregon record for that
event stood at 1:47.87, held by THSC from 2001. The
same quartet set an Oregon record in the 400 Free
Relay, swimming 3:33.35 to THSC's 3:33.88. Their final
record was a 200 Free Relay record with a 1:35.32,
bettering the 16 year old record of 1:36.72 held by
THSC.
LOSC’s boys set the final two records of the meet. In
the 13-14 200 Free Relay, the team of Daniel Chen, Nick
