THE NEXT PTA
MEETING IS
SCHEDULED FOR
Monday,
January 23rd
6:30pm
December is upon us and we have
many activities for our students, staff
and families planned. The Christmas trees have
been set up and decorated in the lobby and are
bringing on holiday cheer. Our Make-a –Wish
campaign is underway and I am very impressed
by the giving nature of Oklahoma school for this
great charity. The 4th and 5th grade musical
program is scheduled for December 9th at 10:00
am and 2:00 pm. The children and Mrs. Richko
are working hard to produce a wonderful show.
Our annual Holiday Sing-Along and Bake Sale
is happening this Thursday, December 1st. Also,
planning for Santa’s Secret Workshop is in full
swing. The shop will be open December 14th, 15th
and 16th. This is a great opportunity for our
students to purchase gifts for their family, at a
small cost. We will end our month here at
Oklahoma with our Holiday Parties on
December 22nd. Remember to take time to enjoy
yourself during this busy season.
Happy Holidays,
Rhonda Wood
PTA President 2011-2012

Many thanks to:
Wende Hoover for coordinating two
fantastic evenings of Bingo for Books.
Every child went home with two books.
The winners of the bicycles were:
Courtney Wiedow in 5th grade and Carson
Dombroski in 1st grade.
Thank you, Wal-Mart, for donating the
bikes! And many thanks to all the
adults who helped make these two funfilled evenings possible.

December 1st at 6pm. A fun way to spend
time with your family! Join other families from
Oklahoma as we get in the holiday spirit. The singalong is free of charge. You will also be able to buy
tickets for the baskets that each grade made for the
Make-a-Wish Foundation. Don’t miss this fun
evening of singing. Tone-deaf singers welcome!
…will be held Dec 14, 15, and 16th. This is a
chance for children to do some secret Santa shopping.
Oklahoma PTA will be providing the first 2 items to
each child at Oklahoma FREE of charge. All additional
items may be purchased for $1.25 each. If you would
like to volunteer, helpers are needed for set up, tear
down and shopping day shifts in ½ day increments.
Please contact Cindy Jaconski at 375-9039. Notices
will go home letting you know the day and time your
child will be shopping. This is a PTA sponsored event.

PTA FUNDRAISER
Let’s hear it for our successful PTA Fundraiser. Oklahoma families did a phenomenal job! Applause for
Leanne Nedza who spearheaded this effort. And many, many thanks to the volunteers who helped deliver
it all into the right hands. This was Leanne’s last year, so the committee chair position is open next year.
THESE FUNDS HELP PAY FOR SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES THAT YOUR CHILDREN ENJOY AT
SCHOOL THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. See below for the programs that are available because of this
fundraiser.
THANK YOU!

What is Oklahoma PTA?
Oklahoma is a great school and your PTA is a big part of that. Here is an overview of what happens because
of Oklahoma PTA.
 School Assemblies. Each year your PTA provides three school assemblies at an average cost of $2,000
per year. This year our children have already enjoyed the Anti-Bullying assembly and still to come are
Aesop’s Fables for the lower grades and Underground Railroad for upper grades.... and our final
assembly is Rainforest Animals.
 Santa’s Workshop. Each year your PTA puts together a committee to provide holiday gift shopping for
our children. We provide the first two gifts free of charge to each child at our school.
 Homeroom Parties. Parent volunteers plan homeroom parties for Halloween, December and
Valentine’s Day. Parties are a PTA sponsored event both financially and organizationally.
 Year-End Carnival. Your PTA provides an annual year-end event that is enjoyed by all our students.
This day of fun includes prizes, games and entertainment for our students.
 Reflections. The Local, District, State and National PTA sponsor this art appreciation program. Your
school must have a PTA in order for the students to participate. This program is open to all our
children at no charge. We have had children from our school district whose artwork has been
recognized at State and National levels.
 School Pictures and Yearbook. Each year the PTA provides the service of scheduling and providing
volunteers for school pictures. We also have parent volunteers that put together the yearbook.
 District Spelling Bee. This is a district wide event, which is planned and paid for by the PTA’s.
 Bingo for Books. Our children play bingo and are guaranteed to win at least 2 books for participating.
This PTA sponsored event is free to all Oklahoma children.
 Social Committee. This committee organizes special events throughout the year all paid for by PTA.
 Talent Show. The children get to show off their talents with a great evening of entertainment.
 Teacher Appreciation. We make this a special week for our wonderful teachers.
 Wellness. Wellness does a runners club twice a year.
 5th Grade Promotion. We recognize and celebrate all the wonderful 5th graders as they prepare for
their transition to middle School.
Other programs that Oklahoma PTA provides:
Campbell’s labels, Funding Factory, Martins A+, 4th/5th grade Olympics, Photo Journalist, Science Fair,
Shop-N-Save, Web Site coordination, the Holiday Sing-A-Long, Make-A-Wish campaign, fundraising,
homeroom parents, and parent volunteers.

OKLAHOMA ELEMENTARY’S MAKE-A-WISH FUN ACTIVITY WEEK!
Our week-long Make-A-Wish Campaign at school will begin Wednesday,
November 30th and run until Wednesday, December 7th. We will have a fun
theme each day for the kids to participate in and donations will be collected
daily for Make-A-Wish. Each day a healthy treat will be given to the class
with the highest donations collected. We would like everyone to know that
we appreciate any donation that is made. It is not the amount that
you give but that you choose to give from your heart that we
appreciate so much!
Here are the activities for the week:
Wednesday November 30th: Wacky Wednesday. Wear bright colored clothes
that don’t match or wear inside out, backward or however you want.
Thursday, Dec. 1st: Crazy Hat and Sock day.
Friday, Dec. 2nd: School Spirit Day: Wear Red & Black Oklahoma or DuBois
shirts. GO BEAVERS!!
Monday, Dec. 5th: Holiday Spirit Day: Wear Red and Green.
Tuesday, Dec. 6th: Pajama Day
Wednesday, Dec. 7th: Team Jersey/Shirt day:
*NOTE* Please do NOT color hair or skin for any of these days.
We will also be placing jars under each grades decorated Christmas tree in
the lobby. You can vote for your favorite decorated tree by placing donations
in the jars.
Listen to Sunny 106.5 on Friday, December 9th to see how well we did
with our Make-A-Wish campaign.
Thanks,
Kim Deible
