1. Course development
SYBB311/411:
The committee decided to offer two modules in the spring 2014 (Technologies in Bioinformatics and Data Integration in Bioinformatics or Programming for Bioinformatics). We will offer all four modules in the fall semester of 2014.Syllubus for the course need to be prepared and submitted next week. Vishal, Elizabeth, Dave and Masaru will work on this.
Data mining course:
Vishal proposed to create a new course for SYBB students/medical students to introduce programming and data mining. We will continue to discuss whether we need to create the course or recommend our students to take existing courses.
MS program for the students of Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine:
The committee decided to offer our program to the medical students of Cleveland Clinic Lerner
College of Medicine. We will create a new course (SYBB535, Independent Study) for them. Vishal will prepare a course action form for SYBB535
Bioinformatics study abroad program:
The committee discussed to create a boinformatics study abroad program. We will continue to discuss the program and seek funds to sustain the program.

The committee confirmed not to offer direct admission to Ph.D. students

We will start reviewing applications in January and meet every two weeks until we complete the process
