4. Brief updates/new members
Tim Bennett – National Trust
Main FS site – Skirrid. Anyone interested there is availability for people to run
Forest School there.
Materials offered to people if they wish for den building, fire lighting, log circles, etc. All works on a donation basis. Tim to organise date to bring wood to
Goytre. Action TB

Kerry would like further ideas for a suitable project that could be developed during Forest School sessions.
Kerry showed members her Forest School photo board.
Llanfoist Fawr Primary School
Mark Langley to organise date to finish developing the pond area.Action ML
Helen S and Helen B would like further activity and resource ideas to use in
Forest School sessions.
Haf Leyshon – FCW
Haf has completed Forest School training.
Sarah Jones has taken over as Development Officer for Forestry Commission.
Haf told group about an available grant of £5000 that can be applied for by FEI members. Haf to check criteria and bring to next FEI meeting for members to decide how/what they would like to apply for. Action HL
Haf recommended Project Nest Box, Pontypool, if schools are interested in inviting a visitor into school to work on providing bird nesting boxes.
Haf to contact Mostyn (Castle Park) about setting up a Wikispace or internet site for members to share ideas. Action HL
Mark Langley (MCC)
Mark recommended Tony Ford (sculptor) if any schools are interested in purchasing pieces for their schools - examples of which may be seen at Slade
Woods.
Sarah Jones has completed resource boxes for use by schools at Old Station,
Tintern and Caldicot Countryside Park. A minimal fee of £10 per box will be charged for the loan to cover damages or items needing replacing.
Mark gave out storm kettles to Goytre and Llanfoist which were purchased out of last year’s grant money.

Treasurer’s report - currently £188 FEI funds in bank account.
Kerry asked if there is a Forest School logo available that can be used on school headed paper. Haf to find out and let Kerry know if there is one available.
