Create a piece of art showing your vision for a sustainable future. Entries are open to: intermediate, secondary students and adults. The challenge runs from Feb 1st – May 15th 2015 Categories: Up-Cycled Junk Trash to Fash Photography All entries will be on exhibition at Baycourt from 10am Friday 5th June to 5pm Sunday 7th of June (Gold coin entry). Entrants and general public are invited to attend the Sustainable Art Challenge Awards Baycourt on Sunday 7th June. Where there will be the exhibition, live Trash to Fashion show and then an auction for the Up-Cycled Junk entries! Each category will award prizes within the three age groups, Intermediate, Secondary and adult/tertiary. Entries will be judged by local artists and awesome prizes awarded within each category to the value of $500! Proudly supported by: Please note: Intermediate and secondary school student who enter the awards gain free entry to the Awards ceremony, adults/tertiary students, parents and siblings will be charged an entry fee. Within the Up-cycled Junk section there are two categories including: 1. Works of Art; 2. Practical Pieces. Enter as a group or on your own. You have the choice of putting your artwork up for sale by auction on the awards evening (with a reserve price), if your piece is sold you will keep 60%, with the remainder going to Envirohub BOP to help organise next years challenge. Let your creative juices flow! Prizes will be awarded for most creative group and single entries within each age group. Big points awarded for those who think outside the box! Remember the aim is to divert waste from landfill. The only rule is that you can’t buy your primary materials brand new. Some ideas to get you started: Old furniture from op-shops or your nans place! Kiwifruit packhouses are a great source for wooden pallets and crates. Metal from scrap yards. Enter as a group or on your own and be prepared to strut your stuff at the live Trash to Fash show on the awards night. Get out and take a single photograph or a photo story (3-5 photos). This category is for single entries (no groups). You have the choice of putting your photograph up for sale by silent auction during the 3 day exhibtion, if sold you will keep 60% of the profits, with the remainder going to Envirohub BOP to help organise next years challenge. Proudly supported by: Entry is free for Intermediate and secondary school students. There is a one off $10 registration fee for adults and tertiary students which allows up to 4 entries. You cannot enter a piece that has been entered in the Sustainable Art Challenge in previous years. Up-Cycled Junk entries from students within the Western Bay of Plenty and Tauranga districts will be collected from schools by Envirohub volunteers on Thursday the 4th of June 2015. Proudly supported by: Adult entries to UP-Cycled Junk must be delivered to Baycourt exhibition space between 9am and 1pm on Thursday 4th June (unless prior arrangement is made). Up-Cycled Junk and photography entries may be sold on the awards evening or at the exhibition, unless otherwise indicated by the entrant. Any entries by adults not sold will be the responsibility of the entrant to collect from Baycourt following the Awards ceremony or on Monday 8th June. Envirohub will organise the pieces to be dropped back to the schools following the exhibition. Photographs will need to be submitted digitally along with a professionally printed 8 x 10 inch copy stuck on black card supplied to Envirohub along with the registration form by 15th May 2015. The photograph prints supplied will be for sale by silent auction (unless stated otherwise by the entrant). The entrant retains copyright of the image. Envirohub BOP retain the right to use or display these images for promotional purposes in relation to the Sustainable Art Challenge only. Trash to Fash entrants will be required to arrive at Baycourt by 1pm on Sunday 7th June for the fashion show rehersal and remain on site until the awards ceremony concludes around 5-6pm. Entrants are responsible for bringing their fashion entries on the day. Please bring packed food for dinner.
