Sateia Walker Mr. Kozak Part 4 14 December 11, 2012 Veterinary and Veterinarian What I already know about Veterinarians is, is that they are people who help save animals for other people or themselves. They work with any kind of animals; horses, dogs, cats, gerbils, bunnies, turtles, and every other animal. They save animals from abuse and nurse them better. But they also have to save animals pain sometimes and put them down. Also to go to veterinary school it cost a lot of money. The average amount for Vet school is $250,000-$300,000. Some of the information I found in the article, " Vet Department to Probe Chiadzwa Cattle Deaths,” is that there are many cattle dieing from drinking water from streams/rivers and veterinarians are trying to figure out why.” Headman Chibuwe admitted he did not have evidence to prove that the water was responsible for the death of the animals” (Vet). So apparently might be from diamond mining but yet there is no proof that it is really from that. I learned that veterinarians don’t just provide surgery within their office. But also they try to save animals from other homes like the owners of the cattle. I also found some similar things in the article “Veterinarians know best,” is veterinarians know what food your animal(s) should be eating. It lets you know why you should feed your animal(s) this type of food instead of the stuff that you would like your animal(s) to eat. It also showed how they care about how you treat them. “Veterinarians are trained to know how animals should be cared for in ways that minimize fear, pain, stress and suffering.” (Scott). What I learned from the article, “Euthanasia veterinarians provide a peaceful death,” is that there is now special Euthanasia veterinarians that will go to your house and put your animal down that is in pain. Also they say it is more comforting to the owners as well as it to the pet because they are passing away at their home. They travel to the pet's home at whatever time they're asked and administer the injection according to preferences stated by the owner — sometimes with friends and family gathered around, sometimes under a favorite tree, sometimes alone with the pet because the owner doesn't want to be in the room during the final seconds. (Peters) So now that they recently started they believe this way it is going to be happening a lot at home within the next ten years at least. What I learned from the interview of Dr. Barrak Pressler is that veterinarians have a lot of fun with what they do and how much they enjoy. Also how it is easier to teach about veterinary if you are more interested about it. “It all comes back to what we try to teach in veterinary school—approaching patients by using the problem-oriented method. Anybody can look stuff up in textbooks, but you have to think like a veterinarian to be good at what we do” (The). But over all I learned more about his personal life, although it gives me a prediction about how my life is going to be when I am a Veterinarian. What I learned from the article “Donors step up for guide dog,” is veterinarians try to help other people with money problems. They called out to people to receive money donations. By the next money they received enough money to do the surgery. "At one point, every one of Blue Pearl's phone lines in Tampa we’re occupied with generous donors wishing to help Abbey" (Lindberg). I also learned how they care for what they eat and how there treated in the article “Veterinarians know best.” It’s when veterinarians know what food your animal(s) should be eating. For my conclusion I wanted to learn more about how they perform surgey, but could not find any articles about it. So I found more articles about how they care for animals and how they wanna figure out why there dying and how you treqat them and feed them. Works Cited Lindberg, Anne.
